Okay. Yes that's true but it's also true they need a goalkeeper and probably are in a position to take on money to get those young prospects off other teams.

Get young promising prospects and high draft choices. This is obviously not about winning short term. This is total rebuild. I say rebuild because they I don't think are trying to lose but they are willing to in order to build from ground up.

That seems to fit with what it appears to me to be their blue print.

I think now that they go for draft choices and young prospects. This is a total rebuild. Makes no sense to go big in free agency. Maybe a few vets to fill in defense and goaltending.

This doesn't appear to me to be lack of experience at all. This I think was by design. They decided this team needed to be rebuilt. Basically start over. Whether I like it or not. That meant going totally with young players. My hope was to just try and build around Jack, Risto and Sam. Obviously they decided that wasn't the way to go. This wasn't for lack of experience this was a calculated decision to go with young players collect draft choice and rebuild this team ground up.

What makes you think Adams didn't do that? Or do you think he took the worst offer.

I think this is where it came too. His contract was what brought his value down. That it came to this is water under the dam now. First rounder and prospect is,in my mind, given the circumstances ok. In a perfect world I didn't want to trade Jack or Rhino.

Isn't he under contract for 21-22 and then becomes a UFA?

I'm thinking possibly the league has issues with this trade and teams trying to work them out. I would think any extension perimeters would have been in place. But who knows.

I do agree so far we have. I also think many on here including myself expected we may very well be worst while rebuilding with younger players. One of the reasons for keeping Granato.

I would love to keep Jack if things can get patched up but that seems doubtful. Still he's under contract and you don't need to make a bad trade in any case.

Reports prior to draft were Sabres were looking at getting first and an NHL player. Seems Vatrano and picks fall within that perimeter.

I think it is or it's not dependent on ones expectations.

Think his value at deadline is zero. He'll be going to free agency what teams would offer more.

The bottom line is he is gone for zero after this season. By keeping him it's not like he's making you a playoff team. We were last place with one of his best years. So next seasons end you lose him and you're still likely no better for having kept him.
