  1. Not sure about tough and gritty with Lidstrom. Just really talented. Lidstrom was tough in the way he could take the punishment, much like Borje Salming.
  2. Not all on one team and you have pretty much named all of them. Any more come to mind?
  3. Not generally. The odd few yes. Going to need tough and gritty once playoff time arrives.
  4. I don't know, the number of Swedes we are accumulating on this team is starting to worry me. Not sure if its the ghost of Don Cherry whispering to me but I am getting worried about it. Once playoffs start, a "heavy game style" is usually required to advance. Will this team be able to bring that or survive it? Just a thought.
  5. Yup, the Sabres ended up with the wrong Nylander!
  6. I thought it was the other way around, the Sabres staff did not recommend surgery, but Jack's own Doctor did, and Jack wants the surgery. Did I misread an article? Thanks for posting. That's what I thought I had read.
  7. It can't be repaired. He doesn't trust the Sabres medical staff anymore (and he may be right) Once that is gone, the player is gone. It is very identical to the Lindros situation in Philly. Once that trust is gone, the player is usually moved.
  8. I'm not sure he can come back after today's presser. It would never be the same with fans. We all know now that he is looking to leave and like Lindros with the Flyers, he no longer trusts the medical evaluation he was given (and Jack was right) The damage is now irreparable and hopefully, Karmanos and Kevyn can work out a good deal with future #1 picks based on Jack's playing status for next season. Perhaps an everyday good player also in the deal coming the Sabres way. Deep down, we all knew this day would come.
  9. Or do you now make Karmanos President of Hockey Ops since he may be mentoring young Kevyn? As for losing out of spite, I get the joke, but you figure maybe 7 years would have been enough? Nahhhh, Terry and Kim want to go an entire decade because if you're going to poop the bed, you might as well do it big time! I swear, if people were allowed into the building for the entire season, you definitely would have seen paper bag heads on several fans and that speaks volumes. Now maybe Karmanos is the defacto Pres. of Hockey Ops without that title. We'll see who pulls the strings at the draft table and in the off season. Either way, headed into a possible 11th season of no playoffs as I see this club right now, even with Jack and Jake back and a healthy Linus.
  10. I'm with you on the least amount of time I have spent on a Sabres season. I actually enjoyed being on this blog more than watching any of the games. Let's see if Terry and Kim are finally embarrassed enough to truly try and right this ship. First and foremost: A President of Hockey Operations. I am not holding my breath on any free agent acquisitions this off season. At least any that would be of value to this club, as I believe Buffalo will not be a favoured landing spot, despite the cash amount offered. Any contract offer in the same neighbourhood by another club, will be the free agents preference I am thinking. Going to be another very interesting off season in Sabreland!
  11. I meant, in progressing. The Sabres may move forward next season (God willing finally!!!) but I just can't believe how Ottawa has progressed this season. Weren't they picked to basically finish last this season? I could be wrong there, but I know they were picked to finish near the bottom. They are playing decent, inspired hockey under DJ Smith and if they could get some goaltending (also injury prone and a revolving door) they could really make a move. Their young players come to play each and every shift and it's noticable. My hat is off to that organization. They took a lot of flak when tearing it down as well.
  12. It is if you're hired by the Buffalo Sabres apparently!
  13. I am betting Ottawa surpasses the Sabres easily in the upcoming season and the next few after that. Effort is never an issue with that club. DJ Smith is a good coach and their talent is progressing. They play a good brand of hockey and it's entertaining.
  14. If he considers coming here then the Pegulas should be "all in'. I fear the Granato magic is done. Today's effort against the B's was certainly "Krueger-like".
  15. But Taylor Hall and Curtis Lazar say :Thank you Kevyn Adams! Have to say, Hall looks like he fits right in with the B's. I can see a contract extension going his way.
  16. Absolutely. If the Sabres played that way and got the results the B's get, EVERYONE ON HERE would be loving them! I know I would!
  17. Also depends which #1 goaltender is available out there and, would they sign to play for the Sabres?
  18. It was. Didn't O'Reilly win the Cup and wasn't he playoff MVP? I would say that proves my point.
  19. He did. But he didn't want to stay.
  20. He got a shutout and check out his save percentage. Yes, Colorado is a very good team but they saw something in Johansson they liked and they are using him. People on this blog wanted him on the first bus out of this city. Just goes to show you what a well coached and decent organisation can do for someone. I don't think this guy is a bust and I think Linus is an NHL starting goaltender. He will test free agency as is his right and I can't blame him. Tokarski, by the way, is an excellent back up goaltender and can give you quality starts as well. Saw him play for the Hamilton Bulldogs several times and he is very good. Has won a couple of championships in his minor league career as well. I would sign him as the back up and if we lose Linus, then we will definitely need a number 1.
  21. All I know is Colorado is really happy with the play of Jonas Johansson over the weekend. 2 wins and he was superb.Funny what happens to Sabre castoffs when they end up on other clubs. Lehner. O'Reilly. Hopefully under coach Granato, who seems to have the ears of this young group of players, that crap has stopped now and they have a coach whose system they can play under, and a coach who can tailor the style of play to his players strengths. Hopefully things are starting to turn for the better here. So overdue. But anyhow, good for Jonas Johansson. I am sure he is very happy.
  22. went down like a sack of wet cement. Needs to take some lessons from Zdeno Chara on how to use your height and reach in a scrap!
