My take. No previous GM experience. Not a people person. Not a well run front office with good communication and leaks to reporters that could be construed as lots of back stabbing and infighting. Coach not a people person. Not a good communicator and not a sound leader with set rules and structure.

Loved the press conference today. Terry's denial of the Jack and Lombardi stories was very believable for me. He seemed mad, insulted, and showed true disdain of the profession that put that out there. I thought he handled himself quite well, for a person that is not at all comfortable doing that type of gig. It's been a good day for being a Sabres hockey fan for me. He made one wrong hire, Pat Lafontaine. The rest is a chain of events that Pat set in motion. Today TP fired the last of Pat's work. It's that simple. If I can see it, people in the league that would be candidates for the next President Of Hockey operations see it also. They may be wondering why it TP so long.

Change for the sake of change, yes. Change because of being stagnant and not a good look on the future, then it actually looks like they know there is something wrong and are trying to change it. TP may fail again in the next hiring go around, if he realizes it and moves on again I will support the next firings. Complacency is the root of mediocrity in sports.

To keep a coach and gm forever with no accountability. A rebuilding team took a step backwards and has an empty cupboard in Rochester. That's after 3 years as GM. I'm just fine with the decision, and if TP put performance goals that said they both teams needed to do better than the year prior, good on TP. And if it's ZFG on coaches and a gm salaries, even better. We where modeling the Edmonton tank rebuild success story and not the Toronto one. We have a chance to be the Toronto one now.

That makes a lot of sense. GMTM had to see smoke signals that his job was on the line. TP had to be seen talking to people that he normally wouldn't be talking to if he thought he had a good GM and Tim caught on to some of it.

There is a very big assumption on your part that TP hired Dan or GMTM. GMTM might be Patt's boy and Dan is GMTM's boy. TP may just be finally getting his house in order from a fiasco that TP assumes is the result of hiring Pat Lafontaine.

If they just fired Dan than it will be reported everywhere that it was because of Jack. Then Jack would have began t his career as a coach killer. GMTM fell on the Sabres sword and took one for the franchise.

I'm older, I'm in the fire Dan camp. I never thought of it as a young vs old thing.

Now I'm really hungry. liger's pizza sounds delish.. AND.. Dan is still the coach. 10 minutes in SS and I'm leaving hungry and depressed. Good times...good times. :doh:
