  1. ^^^ This is year 3 we are going into under Botterill's control. The put up or shut up year if we are comparing these 2 over the same rebuild time frame. If Botterill's team wins more games than Murray's teams will that be satisfactory or will they need to be in the playoffs for him to not be as bad as Murray?
  2. He might not have been coachable. A mix of stubbornness with 4 different coaches over 5 years all telling him something different. A mix of young and stupid, which is very closely related to egotistical. Then mix in the end of last season where he *just gave up* and was tired of losing. I can easily see where many will say he is un-coachable with these traits. Maybe he is. Or, maybe he's turned a corner and just wants to win and will listen now. Kids are like that. I know I sure was.
  3. I didn't get that at all. The back and forth with John was about him logging a lot of ice time. The way I took Risto's comment was... I just want to win even if it means I play less, I'm a team guy first. A *do what ever it takes to win* statement. I'm coachable.
  4. If he plays like him we have a keeper.
  5. I think the getting rid of Okposo's contract is the *winning* side of that deal. Not the return.
  6. We all have such a wonderful sense of humor in the summer!
  7. What's with Yukon Cornelius on guitar? Prospecting didn't pay so a gig in a pirate band must pay the bills?
  8. He has troubling seeing out of his top two and his third eye is blind.... I'm betting it's stat data he got it from. ?
  9. In that picture he looks like Doug Flutie.
  10. This very well may be true. I will not debate you on the origins and time line of *fire ****** ****** he sucks!* But with all do respect...... HO is the predominate force behind the FIRE JBotts ! meme since the day he was hired. I'm giving credit where credit is due! You go HO! BTW, I really like JBotts and really have no interest in seeing him fired so I find it all so amusing.
  11. Makes me laugh every time! Thanks Ho for starting the whole thing!
  12. So in a nut shell. This past year the Sabres where a mix of players ( predominately the middle six) that had the worst possible impact on each other when on the same line. Even scuffling them just mixed the bad mix for the same results. The bad mix being TT and Sobs. No matter where they where in the line up they drug down their line mates. So the hope is by adding even just 2 players with *average* possession and CF% numbers will greatly elevate the middle six exponentially? Is my simple assumption of these stats an over-simplification?
  13. As of right now... One heck of a dog fight to be on the ice for the big club for some *seasoned* veterans come mid October it appears. I'm fine with that, really fine with that.
  14. It could be as innocent as JBott was shopping Nylander and got offered this. But your assessment is not out of the realm.
  15. A really good goalie makes the team look a lot better and instantly adds confidence. But I think they are harder to find in FA than a 2C center.
  16. I only know Jokiharu shoots right, couldn't find anything on which side he plays.
  17. THIS TRADE SUCKS FIRE JBOTTS NOW! Sorry Ho, had to do it?
  18. He's a safe trade to ensure we have trade material for some of our d-men getting shipped out. McCabe gone now?
  19. I'm hoping what Kruger wants to do is win.
  20. Loading up your team with players that are statistically better than the players you have on it is leading somewhere.
  21. It appears GMJB is at the very least adding some decent players to Rochester and maybe hoping that one of these prospects just needs a change of scenery to live up to their draft potential. It's a way to bring in talent that is low cost and he doesn't need to waste picks and prospects on them. I can't really see a downside.
  22. A tid bit from the New York Rangers web site... John Gilmour Bio Gilmour, 25, was selected by the Calgary Flames in the seventh round (No. 198) in the 2013 NHL Draft, following his first season at Providence College. He played three more seasons at Providence, helping the Friars win their first NCAA championship as a junior in 2015. On Aug. 18, 2016, Gilmour signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the New York Rangers after he was not offered a contract by the Flames. Gilmour played for Hartford of the American Hockey League in 2016-17 and had 25 points (six goals, 19 assists) in 76 games. He played 44 games for Hartford in 2017-18, winning fastest skater at the AHL All-Star Game, before being called up by the Rangers on Feb. 9, 2018. He made his NHL debut that night against the Flames and scored his first NHL goal four nights later against the Minnesota Wild. He scored his second NHL goal on Feb. 28, 2018 against the Vancouver Canucks, becoming the first rookie defenseman in Rangers history to score an overtime goal.
  23. These are examples of the traditional way to handle defensemen and goalies, right? It is a low risk chance of stocking up players that has been happening since the draft was first conceived. Getting enough of these picks and letting them simmer is a great way to ensure long term success with little cost to the parent club. I believe EXGMTM really screwed this part up, but it seems to be getting corrected.
  24. Always two sides to every deal. We blame Botterill for not getting more. RoR was damaged goods a year ago after his comments. No one wanted him. The Blues *took a chance*.
  25. No to the RaKru. Sounds like a vacuum cleaner when I say that name. And.. Thankyou.
