When the Oilers are on defense the are trying to play in a tight box. Vegas hookers play with a tighter box.

For the first time in ?? years can this be said? I also believe that. I looked back from 1994 till 2014 ( any later than 2014 players are still TBD) draft and the Sabres have been at best in any given draft just better than average but most times bad. In those 20 years only 10 draft classes resulted in a class that produced 3 or more players that played at least 200 NHL games. They have to hit so much better on their selections than that.

So an inevitable Liger/buffnill meltdown coming from opposite ends of the spectrum? Blasphemy.

In another thread just yesterday there where draft discussion leading up to the picking of Sam then Jack and I was reviewing the previous years drafts by class(09-14). The 2010 and the 2011 draft classes back to back was some of the worst drafting in Sabres history. There were only 2 players from both those draft classes combined that made it to the NHL. 15 selections netted two NHL caliper players. I was shocked to see @Stads question later on that day. If I hadn't been looking at that draft just hours earlier I would never have even remembered him. It's not Nathan.

Was he drafted in the first round by the Sabres and wind up on a team that almost won the Stanley Cup only to finish the next year DFL?

The pipeline was bare bones when Pegula bought the team. We thought we had prospects but they were busts. From 2009 thru 2013 Rochester should have been filled with prospects ready to go when we drafted Sam and Jack the next 2 seasons. The Sabres had next to nothing. Tanking was bad. Not having a good draft in over 5 years before that made it worse (some think you can't do worse than tanking, but the Sabres proved them wrong) . I won't argue losing your three best centers in one season was going to get fixed by any team quickly, but surely 5-6 years later (2009 till 14/15) when Jack and Sam arrived we should have a very nice young core for them to meld into. We had so little.

This makes no sense. Was he to young or to old to make it to the AHL? His ELC can't be a 2 way deal?
