Taro T Posted Thursday at 02:35 PM On 1/26/2022 at 9:24 PM, LGR4GM said: I thought it was a wrist after a slash He was definitely originally injured on that Gallagher play. We presumed it was wrist, but he came back later during a stoppage & tested his skating but never returned. As it was always described as an Upper Body injury, presumed it was in fact the wrist. When he went out injured again and this time got surgery, Granato intimated it was the same general injury as the original one. So, again several of us presumed it was wrist again. Am now, based upon his skating 2 nights ago, assuming it was an abdominal hernia (aka a sports hernia) that kept him out. If so, he'll likely seem a little slow for a couple of weeks & then look more like himself after that, though probably not 100% until next season. Durn HIIPA Laws keeping us from knowing for certain as am pretty sure at least 1 poster here knows what the injury actually was/is.ast ---------------------------------------------------------------- This is a cut/paste of Taro's summation of his injury before Sunday.

Because he was the least in shape player on the ice. He probably did his stretches' and his warm ups just fine and the staff watched him closely. The game started and he couldn't catch his breathe.

They are not beyond questioning. But it's a two way street. Playing injured is something they do every game and each players pain threshold is different. They are making a judgment call to sit a player that wants to play and felt he should play.
-
Did they x-ray, scan, poke, prod, then send all the results to 6 specialist around the country with Mitt's results to see if he should play in a back to back? Your comparing apples and oranges. He said he could go till the medical staff said he couldn't go. For all we know he still wanted to be on the ice playing.

I was really keying on him last night. He looked confident. Not sure if he played a lot of games with Muel in the AHL and that familiarity lead to confidence or if he is just *getting it*.
-
Or the player is so competitive that he wasn't truthful with them and wanted to play.
-
He may have been rushed in the sense he played on back to back nights. He so far out of shape that they should have sat him last night is the vibe I got.
-
The last I thought I heard about him was from the game during intermission. If my memory is good.. They couldn't find any point in the first that he got injured, they did review video and for 2 shifts his skating looked labored. Think they sat him just to be safe.

The Sabres will get the win in honor of Johnny Fever! -
They will finish with around 66 points. They had 33 to finish off the first half of the season and I can see them getting another 33 with a healthy UPL/Anderson/Toker trio with the hard schedule they face. While this may not sound like a good year it will still be a vast improvement from last year, the unintentional tank year.
