Thanks Beer! That's funny! But I hope we do get our "Eichel". I watched Conner play against a very good Oshawa team that was filled with veteran players, he was definitely targeted to make sure his skills where limited and he played well against guys 1-3 years older than him. But Jack played well against men these last few weeks, some of the best in the world, even more impressive. I want our new coach to have experience with a generational talent, coached a Stanley Cup team, be cocky but self deprecating, spontaneous but in compete control, a motivator but not from behind the front lines, a coach that makes practice both mentally and physically stimulating. These are traits of my most memorable coaches. Again thank you Drane, you have given us a peek into Dan's character. He becomes a better coach the more I see of him. If he quotes the likes of Churchill, Ike, Einstein and maybe Mario Andretti ( "If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough"). He will be my Eichel.

I'll take it one further, Nolan calls out his new boss, who is willing to give him a 1 year contract to see if they can get along, and quits. 20 years later he gets another chance and works for 1.5 years and gets paid for 4. The only case that can be made for him is he did the best with what he had. They gave him Lucic, the little pest, the defensive giant and he gets the most out of them. I personally don't like him, but if he came to Buffalo I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. You have even said that we change as we age/learn. But I still think his coaching is more Slap Shot than Miracle on Ice.

It sounds like he has the makings for a great coach that may not play nice with GM's. Maybe GMTM and him get along, doubtful but one never knows.

I am patient , I want an actual interview process with candidates. I want the Sabres to have at least two, best is three interviews then a selection ( they have until before the draft, I'm getting impatient after that). I want our head coach and GM to walk hand in hand holding an Eichel sweater on the stage draft day. Everyone on the same page all happy and smiles. Some thing just didn't seem right about the COckGate and JJFiveOH eluded to it earlier, we may have been saved from ourselves.

I guess I wanted to see for the first time an actual pool of coaches being interviewed where both the team and the coach came out as winners at the end of the process and truly though they both make each other better. If it's that easy why wait PostCock, why haven't we heard of a few other coaches at least getting phone calls?

Yes, they did not interview (unless someone has something other than a phone call to report) any one else. I think Terry and Kim thought they would get it done. I bet GMTM is running around trying to line up interviews.

True, But the Sabres have only interviewed one coach, hence all eggs in one basket. The Sabres are no further now than 3 weeks ago when they fired Nolan. They can have any number of AHL/college coaches, a proven NHL winner pool is much smaller now.

First I'll say I love the Rex hire, but... Your comparing apples and oranges. Rex was jobless and hoping for another gig, probably going to get one, but no guaranty and the Bills are a great fit, if not the best for him. Babcock is the most sought after coaching commodity in hockey, maybe for this year in N. American sports. He can shop and get wined and dined by at least 4 teams of hockey crazed cities, and because he can he should and is doing it. Let him take his time, let GM and owners sweat a bit, he may never get this chance again in his life. Worst thing to ever have to say is "I should of done while I had the chance"....
