Maybe we should give it another year to see what he does before anointing him the chosen one?

You guys rained on my parade before I even had a chance to get disappointed in the article.

Well we don't have to worry about that anymore.
What would Terry get for the Sabres?
I’m sure he would tell you just enough to cover his losses

I just want a more physical team in general, I guess i just associate size with physicality, the years of seeing Eric Lindros getting blasted by Scott Stevens endlessly may have given me big man syndrome.
I don’t really understand what you mean in the bold. Lindros was significantly larger than Stevens, and both were physical players.

I'm tempted to make a new thread for this, but for the time being this can live here.
41-32-6
That's the Sabres combined second half records over the past two years. That's good for 88 points. There are people within the organization and on this board that will tell you "if the Sabres can just bring their second half effort over the last two seasons for a full season, everything will be fine." No, it certainly will not. Over the course of 16ish years, this franchise and a great deal of the fanbase have forgotten what a winning hockey team looks and acts like. An 88 point place is not sunshine and rainbows, people. Even last year's second half, the justification used by our front office and rationalized by this fanbase for standing pat, is only a 94 point pace. That would have been good for SIXTH in the conference. Sixth in the conference would be good enough to stand pat? I would be clamoring to fire Adams if he held pat after making the playoffs a decade straight without making moves to upgrade.
There is this beaten down, loser mentality that has infected every aspect of this organization. Sixth in the conference is mediocrity. No fanbase should be happy with years of finishing sixth without progress. We are striving for mediocrity.
Terry defenders and supporters of Adams and Granato will tell you that they aren't striving for sixth place. That we are working towards sustained success and a prolonged run at Stanley Cups. Their actions don't show this. None of this is acceptable, yet as fans we have no options other than roll over and take it, or give up what is for many of us part of our identity. I've already seen comments here and elsewhere about excitement for next year or renewing seasons tickets. I just don't get it. What is it that others see that I'm missing?
There isn't any anger behind this post. This season was finished almost as quickly as it began. I guess I just don't understand how people who felt the things I've felt during Sabres playoff runs can see any silver linings or have any optimism. Have we all forgotten what winners look like? Do we no longer remember how winning makes us feel? It sure seems like it.

“Since the Sabres last made the playoffs, every other team in the NHL has played at least 14 playoff games, 30 teams have played at least 25 playoff games and 20 teams have played at least 50. Six franchises have played 100 or more postseason games since the Sabres played their most recent playoff game in April 2011.”

So, from my view, we stay the course, continue to build the maturity of the roster, add those character leadership players in the off season and beyond. I'm very optimistic about this current teams future. I see an upward mobility in the standings in our immediate future.
"Steady as she goes, stay the course".'
What was your take at the end of last season?

He usually turns out pretty good in Franchise Hockey Manager. It’s a solid enough indicator for me.

A great interview that sums up a lot of our issues. Too bad we don’t have Trotz. He gets it.

And probably cloud cover.
You are correct, it’s supposed to be about as much of a sure thing as you can get.
I understand the clouds were disappointing, but there was also something fun of the anticipation of it poking through the clouds and the excitement when it became visible. Was it the ideal experience? Probably not. But it was still something to experience without a doubt.

Hey SDS wanna go to the total eclipse in Greenland in 2026?*
*Only one of us will return.
Spain is projected to have better visibility for 2026. If you're really looking for a trip, Egypt in 2027 will be better in terms of length and visibility.

I have no idea why some of you are advocating once again starting the year with 4 players with fewer than 100 career games. It hasn’t worked and it won’t work.

Success! I have pictures from Delaware Park but they are too large. It wasn’t perfect conditions but it was good enough to be amazing. Time to plan #3.

Currently posted up with the sun shining in my eyes. It’s not clear through the clouds, but it’s as clear as I saw in 2017 and that was awesome.
-
It was a beautiful sunrise. Partially cloudy skies outside of Delaware Park. I’ll be pulling our wagon and setting up our tent in a few hours. Best of luck to everyone! Don’t stress anything too much.

Stupid excited. No projections for clouds are going to ran on my parade.

The Sabres average point total per season, the 4 seasons previous to Adams: 74 points
The Sabres average point total per season, the 4 seasons Adams has been in charge: 76 points
In forty years he’ll have us to 96 points which should get us in most years.

Against my better judgement I’m going to watch today. I’ve already got my Sanderson jersey on, there’s no going back now.

Europe is dominat hand on top, but the explanation I always heard is :
What goes into your hands first? A golf club, a baseball bat or a hockey stick?
In both golf (though not 100% as the grip is intertwined) and baseball, dominant hand goes on bottom, if pointed downwards. It’s whichever comes first, really.
I haven’t heard this, but since I posted my answer I’ve been thinking about it more and how baseball factored in for me personally. I was swinging a bat before playing hockey, I don’t imagine young me would change his orientation because he moved the bat lower.

I forgot about this one. Thanks for the memories.
Watching the way Barnaby gets up there's some "fake" going on there too. Reminds me of Nick Cousins this year in a game. That is the perfect comparison. Nick Cousins is the new Barnaby.
As far as the Rempe thing goes the fight wasn't staged. It was real payback. What may have been instructed though was for Lazar to go first (with Vesey) and thus make sure Rempe would be done for the night if it didn't go well. the other 3 pairings were probably just "I guess we pair off too" but none of them were really engaged.
This discussion will definitely come up in the future if the Sabres get any good. We will be in those New jersey shoes and then the debate on Sabrespace will rage for real. Book it. It's coming.
The Athletic did an interview with the Rangers who fought. They did not know they would all be ejected. They thought if it happen simultaneously that they would be fine

I'd say it's ruined if you can't see the event. Imagine paying to see the Sabres play in the dark. Wait...
Meanwhile Buffalo weather nerds are really going out on a limb.
"Cloud forecast during the Monday afternoon eclipse remains uncertain at this junction and may not even be fully known until just a few hours before the event starts."
Nate Silver says hello.
Is the jig completely up on "experts" yet?
As the older folk say, Just look out the window.
You can sit outside all day and be pessimistic about the weather or you can sit outside all day and be optimistic about the weather.

I don’t think everyone comprehends numbers that large. Billions have become commonplace, but few really realize how many millions a billion truly is. Money isn’t real at that point.
