Kevyn Adams is our GM. You can either hope he’s developing and learning from mistakes or you can resign to thinking he’s a bumbling fool. Both of those things can also be true.

Kevyn dealt a bad player and a bad contract for an asset. It’s progress if the money is used to make us better. It’s more of the same if it’s to save Terry money.

He’s definitely going to get a long term offer, it’s just about what he thinks is in his best interest. McDavid is guaranteed to reset the market next season. Wouldn’t it be wise for Marner to cash in on that rather than wait 5 extra years?

It depends on the return for Byram. If it’s someone like Rasmus Andersen (sp?), we need to make another more for a top 6 forward and probably by our Mule. If we get back a top 6 forward for Byram, we should overpay one of the two top RHD UFAs.

Sign Marner to a 2 year deal. There’s only one year guaranteed overlap and the cap is rising anyway. Mitch might bite at the chance to sign for 6x18 in 2027. NHL players need to start thinking like their NBA brethren.

Thoughts:
-After all the reports of interest in Peterka, the return is disappointing. Makes me wonder if other GMs thought it would have taken them less
-Count me skeptical on Kesselring. I’m not of the belief that D are as plug and play as F, and he’s probably coming in to a less disciplined team defensively
-On the flip side, it wouldn’t surprise me if Doan plays a larger role here. People will like him
-As long as Kevyn Adams is making the decisions, I will not have confidence in the Sabres being successful
-There’s a general turning on Terry over the last 2-3 months coming from the Athletic and their writers. It’s interesting. Much of what I see now are things people have been saying even before EEE was implemented.
-We’ve got more cap space to make a big move in FA this summer. Kesselring+Doan+Marner (7x14) for Peterka is great for us.

I’ll be shocked if Cozens doesn’t immediately play better not being asked to to things he’s not meant to do. 70pt year playing with Tkachuk next season and Ottawa in the playoffs before us.
Even if Norris is better for us than Cozens is now, I don’t see how Ottawa doesn’t come out of this far ahead of us.

Edit: I guess three since we won the division once after they left. Three seasons in 24 years

If they’re living in dream world, they better be planning on getting McKenna and McDavid. It wouldn’t surprise me if GMKA couldn’t think that up even in his wildest fantasies though.
