A couple of things in my mind. First, did you know that Donnie Meatballs has coached the fourth most games all-time in Sabres history??

It’s true. And it’s wild. Coaches in the show are changed like underwear. But we have stood by Meatballs.  That makes me think Donny gets a month next year to have this team in the top three in the division.

The other thing on my mind is what @oddoublee pointed out to me. The Sabres 05-06 team out of the lockout was only one year older on average than the current team.  Sure the window can open for a long time with this squad…but that’s eye opening. There’s no room for error here and if the Sabres move on in the offseason, I would understand it.

The post lockout Sabres had the advantage of growing together in the AHL en route to a Calder Championship. All of the equivalents on our roster now have been throw to the wolves.

Plus I'm not so sure his teamates will like that if that is ALL he does.   The league is different now. Years ago the non-fighters would want the fighter on your team...fights happened more often, and you would rather the 'heavyweight' take care of it so you didn't have to.

But now, a Guy like Rempe...it can become an arms race.  He does what he does..and not only does the team he does that too dress their 'enforcer' the next game, but him, and the 'marginal enforcers' are looking for something to happen. As a teammate on the Rangers, you just went from playing your game to now having one, or a FEW guys on the other team you face having that 'itchy fighting hand' or at least maybe those guys looking to make that 'borderline dirty hit' on SOMEONE on your team (maybe you) that would not have happened if Rempe didn't do the things you do.  So yeah. it can still be part of the game, and it was a bigger part of the game in the past. But I think a lot of modern-day players, the ultra skilled guys....Rempe's act will wear thin with them as a teammate much quicker than it did in the past.   Its not the fighting alone, its the fighting, the 'build up' to the fight, the dirty hits and the 'heel persona' he is taking on (waving at or chirping at the other teams bench)

His entire team just came to his defense from the starting lineup to the head coach. I don’t think he’s an issue whatsoever. He wasn’t even the first to drop his gloves last night, that was Vesey. The message from the Rangers was you want to talk a bunch of ***** about our guy to the media and come after him well ***** you we’re going to come after you instead.

Peopel who let their cats roam the neighborhood.

My dog has an extremely high prey drive.  She’s managed to get half a dozen squirrels and a woodchuck last Summer alone.

She’s almost caught 2 cats in the backyard as well. One particular cat keeps coming back occasionally.  Last week (where was the complaint thread last week?) I let her out not realizing the cat was in our fully vinyl fenced backyard.  Dog caught the cat in a corner and there was a brief altercation.  Cat managed to uncorner itself and was able to escape under our fence gate.  No idea if the cat was hurt or not.  I hope not.  She did get a good cut on the dog.  Fortunately no vet needed to heal it up.

Ive seen the cat in our backyard twice since.  Apparently, lesson not learned.

I really, really don’t want someone’s pet to get hurt.  Or worse. If you won’t keep your cat where it is safe and healthy, don’t own a ***** cat, please.

Cats are terrible for the local ecology. If you can’t keep your cat indoors, you should not have a cat as a pet. I say pet, because there’s circumstances as described above that make having a predator on property logical.

Boy is finally on a bender.

    9 goals, 8 assists, 17 points, +12 in his last 12 games.

Team is 7-5 over that stretch.

Must have finally gotten a night nurse.

  5. Beane is the only Buffalo GM/Coach I have any trust in. Diggs was a bit too much of a poo-poo baby for me. As long as when the other shoe drops it has the foot of a very good receiver in it we are fine. Honestly, even if it doesn’t, the division is ours until it’s not.

Annnnnd the forecast starts to fall apart.

    I'm shocked.

That nice weekend you were working for... Now, meh.

The weather will be the weather. I brought a tent in 2017 for the dogs and will be doing so again this year for the baby. Worst case I stand in my raincoat in some crummy weather for five minutes. As for the viewing, I have it on good authority that it will be fine.

Apparently Trevor Connelly has off ice issues that could push him out of the first round or completely off of some teams draft boards.

The Athletic put out a pretty in-depth piece on him. There’s certainly some red flags. I’d be willing to use a 3rd or later on him and revisit him after several years of college.

Now, every social media nitwit for a team, business, even government has to join in on the “fun”.

It has become a day to just stay off the internet.

This you are right about. For millennia it has been a day to gaze up at the sky and wonder. You don’t need the internet to look up.

I am actually worried we are four years away.

No team in the league is four years away from the playoffs. That’s so much time with so many assets. Any team that takes that long is either choosing to or is mismanaged.

Not to throw shade on your eclipse, but it only takes one stupid cumulus cloud in the wrong place in an otherwise sunny sky for 2-ish minutes to ruin your five hour drive. I'll be fine with my 85% coverage.

No it doesn’t. This is from 2017. Plenty of cloud cover then. We sunk way more than a 5 hour drive into it and it was worth every second.

I know it is a once in a 100 years event, but all these viewing parties, stores closing, schools shutdown, daily non-stop talk about it on the news…can’t wait for it to be over.

I will be standing in my backyard, or even just watching through my living room patio door.  Woohoo…it will go from light to dark to light, kind of like what it does every day.

Not every day does a gapping hole appear in the sky where the sun should be. Everyone should be afforded the opportunity to see it.

  12. Honest question—in terms of % of annual income who spends more on the Sabres the average season ticket holder or Pegula?

Terry Pegula spending $20M of his own money on an asset that has more than doubled in value isn’t some noble expenditure, especially when he’s got a $6.1B net worth.

I’m sure change from savior to hated absentee owner must be quite perplexing for Pegs. The guy has dropped a but ton of money into the sabres over the last 13. He hired experienced guys, and they failed. Now he has inexperienced guys he knows and they aren’t getting it done fast enough. He plans a partnership with his wife and catastrophe strikes. I don’t see an uncaring man. I see a guy who has tried to do well by Buffalo and the Sabres are the one horror among many successes. I don’t minimize it but, assassinating his character because he feels the need to make money while owning sports teams is garbage. I’m a thousandaire, and I value money, watch what I spend. No doubt it is the same for him. How about we don’t assume that we know this guy just because he has some bucks. Personally I hate class warfare I hear on these pages sometimes.

Terry Pegula fired employees so he could keep up with maintenance on his yacht.
