Just now seeing this and not reading 13 pages to see if assistants were discussed.
So, who do we think Lindy picks?
Do we think any players will have a notable positive/negative reaction to Lindy’s style?
What might Lindy’s focus be for improving team play?
I’ve made several jokes about hiring former Sabres all of which seem to have generated positive feedback. Go with the most cliche picks and those will be what the fan base wants.

Clearly Reinhart is a star.
Fine? The 4th Harry Potter movie was “just fine.”
unrelentingly negative
I think the 4th movie was the peak. Too many details left out from that point onward, I left the theater disappointed after every subsequent movie.
3rd book is the best book is the real hot take of the thread, but it’s true.

Jim Boeheim is second all time in wins for men’s basketball. He’s the perfect analog for Lindy Ruff, minus the fact he’s actually won a championship.

Trick question, the franchise hasn’t added any young fans since Ruff left.

Ol' Mattie got in too many fights. Can't think straight 😛
He came to give a clinic to my brothers travel team 8-9 years ago. He could barely tie his skates and moved like ***** but once he got on the ice his edge work was incredible. It was hard to believe at the time.

Gallant has been .600+ 4 times in his past 7 years as head coach, 7 straight playoff years.
I just want to know that Adam’s reached out to him and a few others and had serious talks with them.
I like Ruff, always have, I hope he gets us there again.
Seriously. This is all I need to know. If it happened and it didn’t work out then sure Lindy does just fine. I just don’t believe that happened.

Every single franchise has a Mike Peca, Jay McKee, James Patrick they want back in their organization. Go bring in one of them. Lord knows this franchise needs outside perspective.

Bring back Mike Weber!
It’s going to be Jay McKee and you might as well just hop on the itoldyaso train now. This isn’t about hockey.

I might be completely making this up but I remember an article that floated around in his D+1 season talking about how he had the best shot in the draft and was known as the Swedish Stamkos and how if he didn’t play his draft season at 5’6” he would have been a first rounder.
I always liked him and had high hopes for him. I hope he signs elsewhere and finds success. He can be a better player than he is and I hope he finds that level.

Nobody should feel better about Terrys involvement in the franchise after this.

Once the shock of the incompetence of this hiring wears off, I'll be Lindy's biggest fan. I just can't believe Adams didn't even kick some (other) tires before pulling the trigger.
If there was a “I probably agree with this” emoji I would give it to you.

He was maybe the third or fourth best option available.

I will be SHOCKED if another former Sabre isn’t brought in to be the coach in waiting.

“When you think of the Buffalo Sabres, you know, such a huge part of that is Lindy Ruff. You know, obviously we knew he was available at the end of the season and then when we moved on from Donnie that was one of the first calls I made. We know what he brings to this organization and we’re confident he’s the man to lead this team back to the playoffs.” -Kevyn, probably.

Well at least we know the PR is going to be off the charts after his opening press conference. There will be lots of talk about pride and the crest and what it means to be a Buffalo Sabre.

This is the most predictable franchise out there. What a ***** joke.

Article/interview with Granato in the athletic is interesting. Players talking about being pushed harder Fairburn adds:
“As for how demanding his practices were, Granato noted they had 56 games with one day or no days between games. He said, “Your job as a coach is to push your team and create urgency. You’re balancing all the time how hard you can push”.”
I think he came across positively, but also rather naive.
There wasn’t a thread on it so I didn’t bring it up, but naive is a good word for it, definitely. He was way out of his league.

Just noticed Matt Rempe scored today. Wonder if his teammates hate him yet lol

Speaking of Isles, a bunch of bums with a GM who's too old. The Sabres were going to rip past them too.
On Jan. 20 they were slumping but still only two points out. Stinky Pants fired his coach and brought in Pat Roy. They were streaky but enter the playoffs the hottest team in the league.
20-12-5 under Roy.
I panned the Roy hire pretty hard, but so far it’s worked I guess. Ill see if he has long term success before I admit I was too wrong.

Granato was never some “development” coach. He was the Craig Patrick of the USNTDP, working in a role with already ultra-talented, NHL caliber prospects.
