As long as Sam is in the middle I'll take it. But I like Baptiste. He is very efficient offensively and he puts pressure on the defensive with his wheels. Maybe he'll get a look in Van city.

I did say he would be an upgrade, but he is not the one player that puts us over the top to championship. So I would not overpay. No Nylander, no 2017 1st, no Baptiste, Fasching or Bailey. Rodriguez and a 2nd? Sure Foligno and a 3rd? Done. If the Ducks want a premium, look elsewhere.

Look at the numbers it is close. That's the problem they are the same type of player. But because the grass is greener Yada Yada.

Fowler is not even the top pair on his own team. Would he be the top 4 here. But I would not overpay for him. He is a Zach Bogosian clone without the injury history. He also will want big money in 2 years. We would have to expose another player in expansion all for a player who will have only a marginal impact. Fowler is prone to the same defensive gaffes as Bogo with only a marginal increase in offense. I don't think GMTM should do anything at the moment until we see Kulikov, Risto, Bogo and McCabe for at least 10 games. By then if Lindholm is still unsigned the price may come down.

I voted Perrault no 1 for two reasons. First he made Buffalo a Hockey town. Those that were not fans of the game became fans after watching him fly end to end. Two the franchise may not have survived to even have a Hasek era without the French connection making Sabres hockey part of the fabric of Buffalo. Keep in mind, that Oakland lost their franchise the Colorado Rockies came and went the Cleveland Barons and Kansas City Scouts couldn't capture the imagination of the fans. The other reason I voted for Perreault is that he was drafted by and retired as a Sabre. To me that makes a difference in an exercise like this.

If Fowler was a true #1 he wouldn't be available internal cap or no internal cap. Somebody else may have to go like a Rakell but you wouldn't give up a Jossi, Keith, Doughty Letang for budget reasons. You would look elsewhere. It is similar to the Sabres saying yeah Bogo is available, while Jack and Sam or Risto are not on the block unless McDavid is coming back.

If Fowler was as good as everyone seems to think, he wouldn't be available. He is a good skater and young. And yes he would be an upgrade. But he is not a game changer. If a reasonable deal presents itself great. But we need players like Nylander to step into roles beginning next year and it is not uncommon for a highly touted player to not make the NHL roster in their draft year. I think Nylander is more valuable than Fowler in the long run.

This will not be pretty. The Oilers are playing well beyond McDavid. The only hope is a total meltdown by Talbot.

I think that is where we disagree. If you change captains mid voyage and he charts a course that is going to take longer than anticipated you disregard the time up to the change. Murray has been at the helm for 2 years. Competing beyond the first round in 2017-18, is not unreasonable in my opinion. Selling hope is not the issue. Selling hype is the problem. When we drafted Jack the expectations went off the rails. A roster with Moulson, Franson, Gorges, Gionta, Foligno and Dlo is not a playoff roster. I think when healthy this team will be better and I like that we have players cooking in Rochester. But until we get rid of the aforementioned we are not a playoff winning caliber team.
