  1. Another morsel from last night. Knoblauch tells of talking with Bylsma at a clinic where he was asked you must have felt lucky stepping into the great situation in Pittsburgh and winning the cup. Bylsma' response was "who said it was such a great situation?" Implied: arrogant arse.
  2. Me too. Really fun night. When the Caps scored I jumped up yelled F&%k Yeah!!! Drawing eyes from around the room. The latecomers asked Caps fan? The two otbers said no Buffalo fan. The latecomers: ah that makes sense.
  3. Put this in the FWIW column. Last night I went out to watch the playoff games. The establishment was featuring the Bulls game so it took some sweet talking to get the games on a corner tv. It also gave me a large table to myself. Toward the end of the regulation of the Caps Leafs two guys in team gear came in and asked to join me to watch the endings. Then 3 more.came in and saw the other 2 and came over. Turns out the USHL is running their combine at the rink near where I live. I am hesitant to name names but one coach is the son of long time player and coach. He was an assistant under Knoblauch in Erie and worked in the USNTDP when Jack, Matthews et al were there. The other coach played in the LA system and his assistant had a cup of coffee with the B Sens and was also in the USNDTP for a while. Obviously I had to ask their opinion of the shake up. To a man none had anything good to say about Murray. Devoid of empathy; lacks any desire to be around people or deal with the people side of the business. And the son of the coach, his dad coached The Sens while Murray was there. To a person: Jack would never throw his worst enemy under a bus much less a coach. Not his style. All said the same thing, Jack draws people to him lime a moths to a flame. Almost unhealthy drive to be the best, not just the best he can be. Universal praise for Lombardi. Wired in to USA hockey and USHL. Knoblauch universally seen as the next great coach. To a man if they had the 1st pick in 2017, ...Cale Maker. Most don't think he will report to UMass but go to the AHL affiliate And lastly, on TPegs. One quote "if the owner isn't the biggest fan, he will never hate losing as much as the fans. Consider yourself lucky." I bought their beers and wings and had a blast talking hockey with these guys. I thanked them for doing God's work. :worthy:
  4. East Amherst. A member at Transit Valley CC. Winters in Fla from what I' m told.
  5. That's the place. But you have to work your way out to the edge. The trout hold in the eddies. As for catfish they are good fare. Watch out for the spines . The easiest way to clean them is to pound a nail through the head into a 1x8 and filet down the ribs. Nice filets and pretty easy. Bullheads are similar with sharper dorsal fins and you can catch a lot in South Park lake.
  6. Damn. Good luck Brian we hardly knew ya.
  7. I was just thinking holy shyte Matthews is huge. But no that is Boyle.
  8. The Caps had a 4 on 2 and they blow the whistle for what? No penalty no injury. This is pathetic.
  9. Oh I saw it on super slo mo. It hit him on the elbow.
  10. And people called me crazy when I said the fix was in.
  11. My disdain has become all consuming. I might need to take a sabbatical. The ball washing in a Pens Leafs series would be permanently damaging.
  12. Strunk and White would love you.
  13. So what is Gionta bringing to the discussion I have no sound here.
  14. Why the is Matthews allowed to where his jersey tucked in? He isn't Gretzky and there is a rule no?
  15. Haven't been in a while, but there are great fishing spots on the waterfront. In may the northerns spawn in the ship slips in the inner harbor and are accessible on foot. The daring can drop shot for palomino trout under the peace bridge but it is a place where extreme caution is advised. You can catch bass and walleye off the breakwall near Bethlehem steel. Look for the railroad ponds along the stretches in Cheektowaga and west seneca, good catfish and bass in those ponds and the lower Niagara is a must if for nothing else but the scenery. Tight lines.
  16. Not commenting on your otber points, but you are way off on Rocky Wirtz. He did not grow up involved in hockey. He had nothing to do with the Hawks until the old man died and his sibli gs wanted to sell the franchise. Rocky ran the largest liquor distribution business in Chicago primarily on the back of the United Center contract he had from his father. When he bought out his sibs, he hired former Hawks like Savard to rekindle the history. Tallon ran the show and built his first cup team which was largely in place before Savard and Tallon were let go and the former head of the Cubs was hired as team president. Then he wooed Bowman into the fold and turn the reins over to his son Stan. There was a tremendous amount of mistakes made by Wirtz and crew. However, they had the ability to learn from that and to add HOFer Marian Hossa on a backloaded contract that is not possible under the current CBA.
  17. Not many went against them this season. And that shyte Babdick does pulling a player off after icing and forcing the ref to go to the booth to see who is on the ice essentially giving them extra timeouts. They have done that every game.
  18. How about moving the video review out of Toronto? This league is not even hiding its efforts to help Toronto.
  19. And someone will get a steal.
  20. Shouldn't you be on a Caps board thumping your chest?
  21. I would say only if it's equal. Always take the best talent. Youncan always trade it later. See: jones v johnasen
  22. Makar can jump after one year of college. Wash. Neither make an immediate jump so Take the bigger upside. I like Makar, but would be ok with Valimaki. Still take the BPA regardless of position and if Middlestadt or Tippet is there I think long and hard. We still need to add high end talent to the system. Using any draft to fill positional need is ludicrous due to the time factor. Outside the top 2 in any draft, you aren't making roster improvements short term via the draft.
  23. Annulment. The Church is quirky when it comes to divorce.
  24. That's a woolly bugger, the most delicious treat anybfish ever tasted. Go for it, you know it will be awesome.
