The problem is the value a team puts into development increases the cost of an NHL ready player. The only way I can see a trade netting what you are seeking is to trade Sam. Cost controlled still developing, versatile. Kane is a pending UFA and unless the team pulls a ROR and rolls out the brinks truck, they risk losing him at the end of the year. I wouldn't give up a young cost controlled top 4 d man for that much uncertainty. Also, we create a hole by trading either Sam or Kane. We are talking about top 5 scorers on this team.

We will keep the pick. It won't get us a top 4 d. Besides we need to add to the talent pool. We aren't contending for the cup next year and can make the playoffs with health and a different offensive style. Someone will pop loose after expansion. The draft and using it correctly is the key to long term success.

None are physically mature enough.

It cited both as fails DW will be remembered for. As for Whaley, he'll be remembered for the massive contract extension to QB Tyrod Taylor and his seemingly failed draft pick of QB Cardale Jones. That and not bringing the Bills to playoffs during his tenure.

So if the Hawks dump players to get out of cap hell and Hossa retires and they accept the fact they have to resist spending, is that a tank? Should they be rewarded with opportunity to restock because they were willing to not chase FAs or make trades? Stripping away bad assets and restocking the farm is just good management. Putting a lottery in place to dissuade tanking is dissentive to good management. Either get rid of the draft altogether and go to uncapped unrestricted FA for all eligible players and all teams. Otherwise any pretense of trying to ensure competitive balance is baseless and the league is pissing on my leg and trying to tell me it is raining.

We'll have Terry's guy this week. I do not have much confidence it will be a step up. I am concerned with his comments about the fans needing to have confidence in the owner. The same owner who handed the keys to an unproven head coach. I see TP and KP looking for adulation based on their involvement when most fans want them to hire qualified sports people and step away. I also do not see where having a coach in charge is a good idea. No accountability and a conflict of interest between long term and short term goals. I am hoping for the best but prepared to be underwhelmed by TP.

TO last year.

Character. The league heard TP. They will shun losers. Unless they occupy strategic tv markets. But I digress

Holtby chased. Pens are rolling

You keep telling yourself that. We all need a binky once in a while.

To all those who think TO didn't tank...i give you Phil Kessel...and Bettman still sucks.

Well played. I see what you did there -
This game is highly entertaining. A track meet.

He is simply superior in all aspects of skating. And you can't hit what you can't catch. He is special.

Per angler per day at least that was the language

Nice play by Ellis.

They could have used zip recruiter. There is no value maximization. Everybody is adding talent. The idea is not simply to fill holes but to amass talent. Get better. Value is important and they do not seem to care. Also their is no patience. All of these picks are interchangeable with guys taken a few slots later yet they are paying a premium to get them.
-
I see a pattern where TPegs or KPegs don't value people who have made a living evaluating talent. Whaley has made some questionable moves but he also did well with mid round picks. He also made a few nice late round picks. Seems One Voice hasn't done his homework
-
I didn't mean to bust on you. I don't think TPegs and McDermott have a clue.
-
I don't either but Crawford would have been my cap dump.
-
Wow that guy sucks

Character, shiny teeth, crew cuts you know the new mantra

What if the answer was, "there is no way to fix it immediately but next year we will push for the playoffs and will contend when we clear some contracts and the prospects develop?" The one thing I admired about Murray was he refused to look for a short term fix that added nothing long term, he wasn't always correct with his long term bets but that is a mandatory trait for long term success.

You're trolling. Nice.
