GDT: 9th Dec. Habs visit. CBC, MSG-B, TVAS, SN360

Robinson goes to the front of the net on his first shirt. That's good. -
What I remember of Quinn last season was his spatial awareness and his sense of pace. He was also, like Benson has shown, one of our more aware defensive forwards all last season, if sometimes overpowered by full-grown adults. As in the video @LGR4GM posted above... these isn't another Sabre on the roster who scores the goal against St. Louis, about a minute in, where he simply stops and waits out the goalie, knowing there's no threat to him for at least a couple seconds. Quinn was the straw that stirred the Cozens-JJP line at even strength, and I strongly believe his hockey IQ will allow him to do that once again this year, even as he gets back to full strength on the ankle.

January is THE Month We Find Out if This Team Has a Chance

It's time for a nice 16-4 hot streak. Maybe 16-3-1. (I've seen nothing to indicate that is possible for this season's squad, but maybe something just clicks [having to make up for losing Dahlin; Quinn's return; the arrival of Robinson; the powerplay getting absurdly hot; winning a game at home] anything). -
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. The temptation will immediately be to reunite JJP-Cozens-Quinn, but I think I'd let the surging JJP go to work with Mitts (moreso than Benson). If all healthy: TNT line, then JJP-Mitts-Greenway, Benson-Cozens-Quinn, and Girgs-Krebs-Robinson/Okposo

Last year, it worked. Ok and Girgs helped Krebs learn how to play a grind line role. This year... not so much. The key would be for coaching to realize that a fast grind line that can play the forechecking game you want the team to play is the way to go. Even if it means the guy who lost a step is now the 13th F.

It is the future you see. And I agree. They have gaps that Sheevyn should have addressed this offseason, but failed to. (Again, in the case of a standard NHL goalie ... even a Reimer-level guy). But the arrows are all still pointing upward, as annoying as it is to the fans who've somehow paid attention since Leino. Bruins thought it'd be easy. If you face this season's Sabres without Dahlin, Tuch, Girgs, Quinn... you should cakewalk. But the Sabres proved last season, when they're skating, they really are hard to deal with for most teams. Even the ones that try to play heavy and end up hitting nothing. The best part is, if the Sabres can withstand a barrage and play their transition game, they could win this one going away.
