Eichel is close to his top form IMO. He has resumed giving the puck away trying to enter the O-zone with little effort from the opposing team. He hasn’t missed a step holding onto and losing the puck along the boards during the PP. Money can’t buy that level of contribution. Oh wait, it costs 10mil. Hope he invested that money in sunscreen. He’ll need it playing golf in the desert this time of year. If not he should call Evander Kane for some tips on how to invest wisely.

The Sabres of the last decade and a half were nothing to worry about. This Sabres and going forward Sabres are a playoff team. If they were like this the whole year they’d be playing for home ice, not a wild card spot.

Whatever Carter said about the Islanders not getting up for the game or taking the Sabres lightly is a hollow comment to me. Putting forth effort no matter who you play is part of being a good team. Chemistry and effort outmatch talent much of the time. Therefore the Sabres are a better “team” than the Islanders. That’s why they won with the backup in net to boot.

I was one of those who doubted Tage. Hope I’m wrong again.

I hope he is. He is individually talented but nothing the team would miss if the return was at least fair.

Individual talent goes to Eichel. Applying talent to team situations goes to Thompson. Thompson works harder IMO. He makes the most of given opportunities and tries to make them bigger. Eichel is a rover that waits for opportunities to come to him, which he tends to capitalize on. I have to think a Thompson type of player has more impact in playoff hockey. He’s a go getter while Eichel is a give me type player. Skill goes to Eichel but Thompson is more dynamic. He has more use in more diverse situations.

Are they doing it to pro Russian families or pro Ukrainian families?

I think our D corps might turn into something nasty. Dahlin found his man card. Fitz plays like he’s twice as big as he really is. Muel is a beast.

Well, get ready for playoffs next year.
