I would think that's correlation, not causation. Good teams usually have good special teams, and good teams usually make the playoffs.

They were 4th last year, and 16th the year before that. The year before that, when the Hawks won it, they were 20th, and the year before that the Kings (who won it) were 27th Too busy now to look up their postseason pp success, but I imagine the numbers drop dramatically too.

Special teams is no way to sustain a team. It really doesn't translate well in the playoffs
