I forget which poster pointed out the concern over the lottery protection being because we got burned on this recently which is definitely part of it. The same applies to Levi: a low draft pick that we’ve been told played above his draft position the year after they were drafted. Hudson Fasching. We traded good value for him and were told to be excited for it but in the end he ended up not being able to hold his own on NHL ice. I hope Levi pans out obviously but he doesn’t carry a lot of weight as a prospect in my opinion. He’s definitely trending in the right direction as you say, though. Bringing back Ullmark should be the next step at the position because while he’s not a prospect he’s still got developing to do and could end up proving to be a long-term starter. That would be a big piece to our puzzle and allow patience on the three guys in the system.

For clarification: Levi didn’t play in Juniors or Worlds. He played a total of seven games in the last year after being drafted. All of them at the U-20 World Junior Classic. He played damn well in it but those seven games in a D+1 year would not take him from a seventh rounder to a first rounder.

This is the most obvious ***** in the world. Take on the salary to make this happen and move on. You can flip the salary players for something later but at the end of the day when you trade Jack you’re going to need to add players to get to the cap floor anyways. There is no world where Kevyn Adams fits the criteria applied to hire Brandon Beane. Brandon Beane had put his work in the league. Nearly 20 years worth of it.

This boils down to: this had to be the absolute floor of what you get for Reinhart and you took it months before you needed to. Worse players get flipped for more at the deadline. Woof. Kevyn Adams is a kids hockey coach turned into a GM with no experience. This is the price you pay for being cheap in your hiring process.

Nobody but thankfully someone will be willing to offer a lottery protected first and a 24 year old defenseman with roughly a dozen NHL games under his belt and not real skills.

Please for the love of god make this trade now so we can all move on and ignore the team for a few years
