  1. Both are correct. And teams can exceed the cap during the offseason. The Pens signed Cullen and unsigned college free agent forward Thomas DiPauli (Caps 2012 pick).
  2. Correct. Wasn't really thinking on that one. I do think Vesey is a better prospect than Hayes.
  3. Oates, Dekeyser, Sustr and Hayes were all undrafted. Wheeler is a good comparable but was a July 1 free agent. Wheeler was better as a prospect, though. Easily. The extended summer with zero other hockey news and no real difference aside from the player's preference is new territory.
  4. And pissed all over the gas station, according to the security cameras at the station.
  5. You're correct. I'm an idiot and got confused with all these 35+ contracts sitting on LTIR.
  6. Jochen Hecht just now finally retired this offseason. I'm looking forward to seeing his beautiful face in this thread. DONT LET ME DOWN.
  7. As I remember it the media and social media were both very hard on the Pats for this.
  8. Vesey is by far the most valuable draft college free agent in recent memory. Probably ever? This is new ground. Undrafted college free agent. Different scenario.
  9. Datsyuk gets paid every penny due to it being a 35+ contract. And I think it was a bad move because they paid enough to move up four spots WITHOUT taking on the contract. All the talk leading up to the draft, including from Detroit's GM himself, was that it would take a significant young piece to move the contract and instead Arizona took on the contract like it was actually a value they were taking on. But they probably wanted Chychrun bad, so if he turns into a star it was worth it. A dumb move that nobody will remember in a few years, especially if JC lives up to his potential.
  10. Brian Compton of NHL.com was asked to guess where Vesey signs and said Buffalo. This is really all over the place.
  11. MacDonald corrected the list by replacing Buffalo with Toronto but indicated they're not included because we already met with him and he's only talking about teams he met with since FA https://twitter.com/ESPNJoeyMac/status/766096008359112705
  12. Everything but the Datsyuk deal (which was horrendous).
  13. Half of this was depressing but I think being compared to Mara is a compliment, so I hope you took it as one overall! Based on reading your posts and her tweets I think the similarities go further than looks.
  14. I have a very vague understanding of what you look like, Josie, but I always think of Mara Wilson when I see pictures of you. Just figured I would share this pointless observation. Carry on.
  15. I'll always called it the USSR. On a serious note: what was the best moment at the Ralph? Is there one? I don't think it could've gone worse. I honestly think the best moment in the Ralph was when the Pegulas came on the field for the first time after buying the team.
  16. As is everything else that comes out of Rochester. (IM JUST KIDDING. I have Rochester friends. I poll well among Rochester people. In fact, look at my Rochester-New Yorker over here. Look at him. Are you the greatest?)
  17. New Era Field is the new name of the stadium, per Biz Journals.
  18. Because you've been tricked into thinking there's actual outrage over Ellen's picture instead of a few people mad online?
  19. My name is STEVE JOHNSON.
  20. Well, yes. If any team outside of Buffalo sways him it's "bye." That's how it works, goofball. Ferrara (or at least the characters he plays) are "dude bro" enough to leave an impression on a young hockey player like Vesey. DMC is a legend regardless of which over/under 50 thread he's posting in these days. A couple football players (including Esiason who is sports royalty in NY) is a help, especially since it's players from both sides of Jets/Giants. I don't think it'll actually make him go to NY, but these are notable people. Impressive from the Rangers if they had anything to do with getting them involved. If they didn't it's even more impressive that these NY celebs care enough to push for a hockey player to come to their city is impressive. Also, yay for shaming a woman for her looks! Good job, Sabrespace.
  21. I know, I know. "Back in my day we called it foreplay." GOOD FOR YOU.
  22. Come here, you. So cute. I just want to give you a noogie.
  23. Run DMC, Jerry Ferrara, Muhammad Wilkerson, Justin Tuck and Boomer Esiason all tweeted at Vesey. And ESPN's Linda Cohn... It wasn't just a bunch of fans. They got some big names to the task.
  24. This is the type of stuff that makes it look like society is "too sensitive" and gives a bunch of weenies the gumption to whine about having to be "politically correct." There's not a sliver of an issue with what she posted. There also aren't THAT many people going at her. It's Twitter. Millions (billions?) of users so there's bound to be a few idiots hoping for attention and several others who are faking their anger as a sort is smear campaign. It should be a non-story, but it'll get attention because many outlets need social media for content. Ellen is not sheltered. It's nothing. She was joking about his speed and ability. If it was her riding him instead of a photo that makes it look like he's willingly giving her a piggyback ride then I'd agree with the anger.
  25. My status on this is still: I really want Jimmy Vesey and I don't have much of a problem with anything he has done so far. I will dislike and boo him if he signs elsewhere but overall I'd prefer if he just signed on our dotted line.
