Roger Goodell has said in the past he wants to raise the threshold for a positive test and lessen the suspensions. The players obviously want that. What exactly is stopping them from hitting the negotiating table now and adjusting the rules? Both sides have publicly said they want it so it'd be hard to play hardball on this one.

If I remember correctly it is pooled and distributed to the league and players. Kaepernick's increased sales increase that pool, but I don't think it gives him more proceeds than others.

On tightening polls: ratings are better for the media when polls are tight. A wide lead becoming mysteriously close quickly is helpful for them.

Sam Bradford had the best completion percentage under pressure last season. Teddy Bridgewater was the most pressured QB in the league. It makes a world of sense outside of the price paid to acquire the asset.
