  1. Because I totally forgot about them. That's awful on my part. Just plain awful I like that team too and think they will be very exciting. Very embarrased. I'd actually put them at 4 and bump everyone else down (so Minnesota no longer makes it). I can't believe I forgot them. (By the way, a Memphis/Nuggets playoff series would be unbelievable) I think they can make the playoffs. And I have this amazingly dramatic situation where Derrick Rose comes back to a 11-30 Bulls team and leads them on a Sabres in 2011 tear that puts them in the eighth spot. So to do that Toronto needed to be seventh.
  2. The NBA season starts tonight so I thought I would make some predictions and would love to hear your guys' thoughts. First Round: 1 Miami over 8 Chicago 2 Boston over 7 Toronto 6 New York over 3 Indiana 4 Atlanta over 5 Brooklyn 1 Lakers over 8 Minnesota 2 Spurs over 7 Jazz 3 OKC over 6 Portland 4 Memphis over 5 Clippers Second Round 1 Miami over 4 Atlanta 2 Boston over 6 New York 1 Lakers over 4 Memphis 3 OKC over 2 Spurs Third Round 1 Miami over 2 Boston 1 Lakers over 3 OKC Finals 1 Miami over 1 Lakers Regular Season MVP: Kevin Durant (robbing Lebron who deserves it) Finals MVP: Lebron James
  3. As an ND fan, I'd pick K-State as a NC opponent because they are the weakest of the four in contention. As a college football fan, I want ND to play Alabama in the NC. Last time that happened, Also if Brian Kelly knew we were talking like this he'd make us run laps.
  4. 1,000,000 internet points to you
  5. Well said. I agree. When I travel abroad I find it takes very little time to adjust to metric (except temperature. I always look at it and go "20 degrees? Is that nice?")
  6. In all seriousness, do you find it hard to follow a third tier team? From a logistic standpoint I mean. I don't think that would happen. When MLS did those things it went nowhere. Only when MLS started to represent normal Euro leagues did it begin to gain any traction. In the words of the great Abraham Simpson, "The metric system is the tool of the devil. My car gets 40 rods to the hogs head and that's the way I likes it."
  7. I agree. I am not panicking as long as the Classic exists
  8. I cannot believe what the Giants did to Verlander. That's shocking. Detroit must win game 2. If they do, the memory of Game 1 is erased. If they don't, it's over.
  9. This is why I think the NHL's proposal was good for the prospect of hockey this year. The players will defiently veto the "no UFA until 28" thing. The NHL will probably give that up. The players will also want the NHL pay for the extra salaries over 50% until the end of the cotnracts. The NHL will throw a tantrum on this one, but I think they will. (Which is totally fair. If you can't pay those salaries you shouldnt' have made those offers).
  10. Meh to Mariotti. I actually have no beef with Bucky. Sully is garbage though. Stopped reading him a while ago and skip the days he is on WGR.
  11. This is huge news. The PA is going to reject a lot of this but this is a real basis for negotiation, and I think the players got their main sticking point (no rollbacks). Everything else can figured out.
  12. I like the balcony seats personally. I like the video game view---you can really see the play develop from that vantage point. My main complaint is that it's the "Amerks shoot once" side so good goals are twice as likely to go the other direction.
  13. I'm with you...that's really lazy. Don't they have interns who could write all the names phonetically?
  14. I'm conditioned to hate three logos in sports: Patriots, Flyers, Crunch
  15. For some reason I want to come him Free-da-rick. Can't explain it. Who is going to Amerks home opener? Any Buffalonians making the trip down 90?
  16. I knew I like Pierre Lebrun... But yeah...that's crazy.
  17. Agassi is that you? :-P I just meant in general. Usually these "grunting is awful" statements are pointed at Serena and Venus. Graff and Seles were really before my time anyway.
  18. Maybe? It seems like an excuse for getting beat by a better player. That being said, when commenters talk about the grunting it doesn't seem like they are objecting for competitive balance, but rather for appearance reason. Like grunting isn't dignified.
  19. I have never understood this. Who cares if they grunt? Why is this even a big deal? Tennis is a great spectator and participatory sport but the country club rules need to be dropped. This isn't 1919 anymore
  20. I didn't know there was anything to follow in the US. My roomate in college played so I would occasionally watch his games and practice a little. It's a super fun game. Do you play?
  21. Thank you. That is idiotic andOakland must be really mad as Detroit is the worst road team in the AL playoffs at 38-43 on the road.
  22. I just shouted "he tagged herring toss!" in my cube. So lots of Internet points for you Mr Eleven. Anywhooo...I'm excited for the start of the MLB playoffs (especially with no hockey). As I will be there next weekend, I'm hoping Detroit will be home. Does anyone know the scenarios that could make that happen?
