  1. Whatever happened to guys getting hit by picks, getting stitched up and getting back in there?
  2. Guess the NHL says Baldy doesn't count for that record! https://mobile.twitter.com/PR_NHL/status/1582582332917092353
  3. Why does Sylvester keep saying he is the only defenseman to score 4 goals in the first four games? He isn't, he tied the record set over 90 years ago tho...
  4. There it is!!! Baldy Northcutt is alone no more!!!
  5. I hope so. Anderson played really well in game 1, but he was mostly awful last year metrics wise. I hope Subban isn't mentoring at all...the dude sucks.
  6. The only thing Eichel ever bought into was himself. He is a player who cares more about his stats than he does about the team winning. When things are going great, he is fine...but when things aren't, he isn't the type of player who is going to pull your team out of it...in fact, he is the type of player who is going to make it worse with his sulking and crap attitude. He is the type of player that you might add to an already great roster but is never going to take a team anywhere as the leader. He just doesn't have the makeup for that. When you have to fix a team that is underperforming the most important thing you need to do is to remove the people who are making it impossible to get the bus going in the right direction via their attitude, their effect on other players on the team, etc. Obviously the Sabres determined that Eichel, Reinhart and Risto were the people that had to get off the bus. So far they appear to be correct in that judgement.
  7. Of course...nobody is. But even with league average goaltending, that would be a giant win for the Sabres. True enough but just because you are a good player doesn't mean you fit in the same with on the lines with other players or who they are playing with. Not saying they they won't just that it isn't that easy. It's not NHL 22 where you just make whatever trade and the players play the same no matter what.
  8. The dropoff with Comrie won't be as far as most people think...his metrics were outstanding last year and there is no reason to think he shouldn't be very good.
  9. Probably bone bruise which although is minor hurts really bad
  10. The best thing two things for me is their defensive zone coverage which I think is light-years ahead of any time in the last decade and the goaltending. I expect Comrie to come back to earth a little but still be really good. His metrics say he was a really good goalie last year not lucky. Played on a team very similar to ours in terms of giving up a lot of shots and similar types of shots. Calgary should not be quite as good after losing Gadreau(sp?) and Tkachuk
  11. Probably as a forward? Shows what confidence can do...he was beaten down by Krueger and previous coaches and Granato lifted him up.
  12. The Sabres have looked really good in their defensive zone on balance I think from what I have seen so far. Very good coverage of the guys without the puck, for the most part do not chase the player with the puck and often times force tough passes to guys who are either covered or tied up or a shot that is relatively easily saved. Light years ahead of any time I can remember over the last decade.
  13. I have much more faith in Comrie to continue this than I do Anderson. Comrie was ranked #2 in the entire NHL in expected goals saved above average per 60 minutes next to Shesterkin last year.
  14. Record is held by Lawrence "Baldy" Northcutt way back in 1932-1933 with the Montreal Maroons! Dahlin is the only other defenseman besides Victor Hedman back in 2013-2014 to score in 3 consecutive games since ex-Sabre Calle Johansson in 1992-1993 did it with Washington. UPDATE: NHL apparently has concluded that Baldy played forward some of those games so he does not count in this record and it is Dahlin's alone!
  15. Nice win but giving up almost 50 shots isn't going to get you the Dub very often.
  16. Great job to be up 3-1 but they need to stay focused and keep playing their game. There is no lead that is safe against this Oiler team.
  17. It's two games. Won't be worried until it reaches 15 or so
  18. It's a fair result. Panthers are deeper, more experienced and simply better than we are.
  19. Why is it so hard to show the shots on goal next to the score like every other station does now? They started to at the beginning of the game and then it went away... WTF MSG?
  20. Dahlin is so good but he needs to stop with these silly turnovers in his own end...the ones that are completely pointless when he tried to do a drop pass to nobody except the other team
  21. Yeah, it will improve as they gain experience throughout the year. Necessary growing pains unfortunately for the youngest team in the NHL
  22. Sabres still turn the puck over way too much and especially the needless turnovers
  23. Sabres seem a little overmatched talent wise but they are scrappy and I like it. Pretty succinct and accurate. A few nice defensive plays to break up other odd man rushes that could have made the score more lopsided.
