GDT: Flames @ Sabres, Oct. 19, 2023 - 7pm EDT, MSG 📺 WGR 📻

We may simply see something like: Dahlin/Clifton Power/Joker Bryson/EJohnson instead if Granato wants to keep Power/Joker together. I can't imagine either Johnson or Bryson being the one paired with Dahlin. Johnson is too old to do those minutes and Bryson is too much of a liability. -

I don't expect Mule to play, but I don't expect him to be out long enough to call up Ryan Johnson. That means we're stuck with Bryson. Based on how the numbers looked last year I'd do these pairs until Mule returns: Dahlin/Joker Power/Clifton Bryson/EJohnson Clifton is still acclimating and making some noticeable mistakes, but I'd like to see how he pairs with Power. Hopefully the veteran play Johnson bring keeps Bryson from being too much of a liability (and hopefully his "improved" play in pre-season actually translates to decent 3rd pair play but I'm not holding my breath). I didn't really remember Joker playing with Dahlin last year, which probably means Joker wasn't messing up too bad. Apparently their stats for last year are really good. That's been brought up on both Maintenance Day and Expected Buffalo. Last game he had both Johnson and Clifton playing with Dahlin. Then late in the game it was Power. We'll see what the pairs look like at morning skate though -
the early stuff was kind of meh..but at the end with 4 of them and JJ was messing with the other players was pretty good. But yeah..I hope Skinner does another 2 stalls

The Sabres will be looking bounce back after losing their home opener to the Rangers. Tonight they head to take on the Islanders. This will be the Islanders first game of the season. They are coming off a wild card berth last year. No word yet on the lineup. Will Granato mix anything up, or run it back with the same lines and defense pairs? Does Levi get the start again or do they go with one of two back ups?

MSG's Sabre Games: No Cable Needed Next Season
SabresBaltimore replied to That Aud Smell's topic in The Aud Club
A lot of those TVs basically have an embedded Chromecast. I'm not sure about Vizio in particular though since I have Samsung TVs. If you're not sure if your TV supports casting, the easiest thing to do is try to use the youtube app on your phone and cast it to you TV instead of using the built in youtube app your TV probably has. The only requirement is both your TV and your phone need to be on the same wifi network. It's hard to know what the MSG app lets you do. My suggestion is look for a cast icon in the app. Like in the youtube app. If it's not there and it let's you stream from a web browser, you can click on the right-hand menu and cast any tab (assuming your TV supports it) Using the chrome cast tab feature is how I watched pre-season games on my TV -

What is your TV setup? How do you normally stream stuff? Roku? Chromecast? AppleTV? Built in to your TV? I have a chromecast TV so I can install most (but not all) android apps on that, and if not I can load a feed up in Chrome and cast it to my TV from my laptop (but that's annoying because I have to leave my laptop running) or cast from my phone if the app allows it. I'm not sure if Roku or Apple have similar features. Or if the MSG Go app has a cast button, but that might be what you need to do. -
The regular season is here! Tonight's game will be on MSG (NYR) and MSG-B (Sabres). ESPN+ for those of us out of market in the US. The Rangers come to town for Opening Night of the Sabres Season. Practice lines from yesterday:

One of the things I love about Ovi is he celebrates his teammates goals like he scored it. Also, I've never seen someone so happy to finally win the cup as he was. I'm sure there have been others, but he was out partying with all the fans and just having a grand old time. It was cool to see.

KA was on Sabres live and they asked him about Savoie playing in Rochester. All he said was "it's complicated and I don't want to comment, but we're talking to the league to see what our options are" So it sounds like they are hoping to send him to Rochester to have a rehab and buy themselves some time. Likely he'll stay on IR until they figure out what their options are.

Personally I never disliked Crosby as a person/player. What I disliked was how much OLN/VS constantly talked about the guy, even in games he wasn't playing in. They aren't alone in this. Collensworth talks about Maholmes all the time. It's a thing most national broadcasts do with star players. As someone who followed the Caps a lot while the Sabres were terrible, I liked the Pens/Caps rivalry. Although Crosby and Ovi are 2 very different players. Both are fun to watch though.

ESPN did a tribute narrated by Gretzky: -
You typically only get a single parking pass with 200 level seats, not multiple vouchers
-
No idea if this is why, but Opening night there are 2 giveaways. Maybe the voucher is for the RJ Way sign? For giveaways it's typically not a "everyone gets one" kind of deal, just something they give everyone as they enter until they are gone. Not sure why they need to do a voucher though source: https://www.nhl.com/sabres/news/buffalo-sabres-2023-home-opener-details-rj-way-giveaway-party-in-the-plaza
