Amazing what happens when Eichel plays the team's system  -
Eichel? He is on track for 64 points (in a full season). We hoped to get a star who would put Buffalo on his back and carry us to the promised lands. In reality he seems in the tier of very good rather than elite. ROR is on track for 63 and is way better defensively and has more 'intangibles'

Deadline Nearly Here! What is GMTM going to do?

Is there a team for Fleury? I agree teams don't let that talent walk for free, but I think there are better 'prospects' than Ulmark out there. -

Murray from the Pens. Fleury has to be protected. -

Man Lehner really blew that one for us. The offence provided the all the support he needed to win that game. They kept up their end of the bargain by putting one in the oppositions net, he let this team down by allowing twice as many. He has to go, simple as that. Maybe we could package him with a good player so someone would want him? Something like Girgensons and Lehner for a 2nd or 3rd? -

Losing them to NJ is more costly than SJ. I play Lehner then Nilsson -
For years people said Lundqvist played too deep in his net and wasn't aggressive enough. But he put up the numbers despite his unorthodox style. Eventually people accepted his play style and agreed he was a very good goalie. Lehners dad was Lundqvists coach when he was developing in Sweden. He used to try out some unorthodox training/tactics on Lehner to see if they would work for Lundqvist. Maybe Robin found one that worked for him?

Would Hitch teach Eichel to pass and use his line mates rather than lap the rink then give the puck away? If so let's get him

Everyone was a rookie once though
-
Toronto has three rookie of the months. Do we even have one? Mathews > Eichel Marner > Reinhart Toronto Nylander > Buffalo Nylander (based on their AHL stats this isn't even close) Anderson > Lehner Reilly = Risto Babcock >>> DD Depressing

I disagree. He is asked to do so much, if we had more depth he wouldn't have to be doing so much and could focus on stuff more. -

Can we trade Bogo? Maybe for a tall d-man in Winnipeg? -

Our goaltending is one of the best in the leagues. We have a promising young crop of forwards. Kane/Eichel/ROR/Okoposo/Reinhart is a really decent top 5 -

Two seasons ago it was all about size and grit. I think its mostly people interpolating backwards. Team that know their identity win. -

Coaching change(s) always occur before GMs go. Murray easily has another 18 months -

We're trying to play a fast game against a faster team. That's coaching. We should be playing to our strengths, not theirs. This isn't the 1980 game against the Soviets. -

Out of interest, do you see Nilson as the Sabres goalie for the near future? Do you consider this his breakout year, rather than an usually good season before he regresses to his normal state of barely above .900 hockey -

Man I love ROR. Isn't the most talented, but he is someone who has milked every inch of what God gave him -

Sarcasm? That's on the defence. You don't leave a 40 goal scorer alone in the slot whilst the puck is behind the net (forcing the goalie deep into his crease) -

Risto even pointed to who Bogo was meant to be marking and he still didn't manage to process the play before it was too late Yeah that seemed to be the idea... but that is a weird strategy when playing a very fast team and a poor breakaway goalie -

People would be crucifying Lehner if he had been the one to give up that rebound on the GWG -
To be honest, if jack ever becomes a point per game player then I'll be happy. I expect in five years when those redrafts are done, jack will be taken 3rd or 4th. Reinhart is another bust of a 2nd overall. I think he will be a Kyle Turris, not a Toews. Ultimately, the tank has failed and we need to rely on trades and surprise prospects now. Or we become the oilers and bottom dwell until a truly elite player can be taken
