  1. Terrible showing - one good game and a bunch of awful games. Sabres are already 22nd overall in the league, and more alarmingly they've got suffered 4 losses to 3 teams (Carolina, Florida and Washington) that are ranked 25th, 26th and 29th. I find that especially concerning because it's possible they are actually worse than their 22nd place suggests. When will Pegula figure out that the Ruff/Regier team just isn't cutting it? Terry is paying for one of the highest payrolls in the NHL and has precious little to show for it. Both Leopold and Myers should be BENCHED and Amerks called up to replace them - regardless of injuries. Ruff needs to let the team know that play like Myers and Leopold's is UN acceptable!!! Buffalo's defense is beyond bad.
  2. I had to listen to the game on the radio ( I was away from home yesterday). Damn, that sounded like a fugly game. How can the Sabres look so awesome on Thursday, and so awful yesterday? Frustrating to say the least to be a fan of this team. From what I was told, however, Myers and Leopold both figured prominently in the terrible defense.
  3. Chz, thank you for posting both that awesome photo AND the video of the fight. Scary part is -to me Scott looks so casual throwing those punches - like he wasn't even trying that hard. Imagine if he was angry? LOLOLOL!!!! It's been a LONG time since we had anything this awesome to talk about when it came to the Sabres- and there's a whole BUNCH of awesomes to take away from the game last night!
  4. Yeah, but last night by far the worst D plays were by Myers and Leopold - they stuck out a lot worse than CoHo.
  5. Watched this at a pal's house last night so I didn't post - I'll have to add the forum to my Smart Phone's book marks so I can post if I'm away from home Anyways - FANTASTIC!!!!! I figured the Sabres were finished when it was 3-1 Bruins. We were so angry at the poor defensive play of both Myers AND Leopold - we would rewind and watch those last two Bruins goals - horrible, weak D! However, Thomas Vanek was off the charts - same with Foligno & Hodgson - two of the Sabres goals last night were season highlight material - they were just text-book - BEAUTIFUL!!! Honorable mentions to Ennis, Sulzer and Pommers. The G-Man played a good game too I thought - couple mistakes but he helped more than he hurt, that was for sure. Smartest thing I've seen Lindy Ruff do in a long time - sending Scott out early in the game to "lay down the law". I don't think it was any coincidence that after he creamed Thornton, that Boston played a LOT cleaner than usual - no dirty cheap shots on Miller, et al. Wow - what a great game. Season might be shaky - but at least we've beaten hated Philly and Boston so far!
  6. That doesn't seem possible - both Ruff and Regier already hold the record for the longest tenured GM/coach team - how can it extend even longer? It becomes insanity at some point - and could cost the Sabres significant revenue - fans may get fed up if the not-so Dynamic Duo is still trotting out onto the ice in October 2013, after another season of fail.
  7. If the team fails to make the playoffs again, I would have to think both Ruff and Regier are out the door. How can a team possibly keep the same coach/GM for 16+ seasons, especially when failing so badly?
  8. haha, well though I have to agree with their assessment that the Leafs are a bottom-shelf team. They still managed to beat OUR bottom-shelf team. Was the G-Man even on the ice during the OT period???
  9. Don't forget - Toronto is ranked 25th out of 30 by ESPN.... it's not like these are the Blackhawks giving the Sabres all they can handle in their own crib.
  10. I just turned the game on via FirstRow. Looking ugly already - 3 goals given up in less than 30 minutes of play time? And to the Leafs??? Brutal!
  11. It's amazing to me that it isn't even mentioned on WGR's website - discussion about the G-man dominates the news there.
  12. The only positive - Overratedchikin couldn't stuff the puck into an empty net, when deep in the Sabres zone.
  13. Over Me - Segarini & Bishop - Vanishing Point Soundtrack http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Re8U_on4Gn4 You can see from the beatific look on K's face as he races to embrace his doom, that something definitely came "over" him. :)
  14. Wow - that is just insane. The fact it was after a Sabres time out makes it especially inexcusable. I was also told that a game or two ago, Sabres were short-handed during the opponent's power play - the penalty expired, and there was a lengthy delay before Ruff managed to get a 5th player out on the ice. Twice in a few days time that the Sabres were needlessly short-handed on the ice???? Shouldn't Ruff's job be in danger for such stupid rookie coaching mistakes?
  15. Exactly, Hartman. No one was going to steal Regier away from the Sabres. There was no need to rush into an extension, especially with a team that's been so shaky the last few years.
  16. Even Rick J.'s karma couldn't help this Lindy Ruff coached team, apparently. This is the 3rd game they've lost in a row, and 2 of the 3 were to previously winless teams -
  17. Can someone explain a compelling reason to extend the GMs contract so prematurely? Wouldn't it have been wiser to wait and see how this season pans out first? For some reason it seems reminiscent of several disastrously bad decisions by the Buffalo Bills in recent years - 1, to sign Dick Jauron to a contract after 5 wins (and we know how well that worked out), extending Kelsay who's been like the Invisible Man on defense both before and since, and then of course throwing a big contract to Ryan Fitzpatrick?
  18. Greetings folks! Guess now that hockey is up and running, time to start posting. On another forum, a poster said that Ruff only had FIVE players on the ice after pulling Miller? Is this true? I was watching streaming - so I can't go back and watch.
  19. And let me add too, the Sabres had a lot of problems that needed fixing. The largest payroll in the NHL, and didn't even make the playoffs. Fixing those problems HAS to take priority over fixing the Amerks.
  20. Now that Roy has been shown the door, my chief complaint has ended.
  21. Look at how awful the Sabres season was last year - the Sabres are neglecting the SABRES, do you expect them to pay more attention to the Amerks? LOL
  22. Thankful my early worries about Hodgson appear unfounded. The guy has been rock solid the last two games. Almost like that first point was psychological - now with that wall broken, CoHo is really starting to produce. Didn't come a minute too soon with so much on the line right now. You know he must be pretty decent if Roby is talking him up during intermission - he's usually pretty honest and straightforward in either praise or criticism.
  23. That's one of the problems with the Bills in 2011 - a lack of talent and lack of depth. I would also wager the BIlls payroll for coaches and talent department is well below the league average, but those numbers are not publicly disclosed so it can only be speculation on my part. And the Bills don't have a football brain like Bill Polian in charge, but rather a marketer/accountant/bean counter in Russ Brandon. Will that really change in 2012? What sucks - unlike 2011 the Giants won't play the Bills this season. Bills caught a break right there - :) - your schedule has the Chumps and the Sickhawks, but no Giants.
  24. The Broncos could be very dangerous this year, if Peyton Manning's performance was anything at all like he was pre-injury. The Broncos got into 2nd round of the playoffs with Tim Tebow in the pocket - how far will they go now? I'm sure Elway must be thinking warm fuzzy thoughts like that too. Tim Tebow - great guy - but an average or below average QB at best.
