  1. You can't tell me to get over ROR and then go saying things like this! You're killing me! He didn't have to trade O'Reilly. Maybe he felt he did, but that's not the same thing as a pending UFA or RFA refusing to sign. He could have misjudged the need. Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled programming.
  2. He's not going to blow anyone's doors off, but he's solid in every phase of the game, can play anywhere in the top-6 (excluding 1C), and has a reasonable contract. There's really not anything to dislike about him, and I love the fit for what we need. He had 5 straight 20-goal seasons (including his split year between NY and Tampa) before having a down season this year where he got pushed down the depth chart. Bring him to me!
  3. Hey look everyone, it's PA ridiculing Kim Pegula. Shocker of the year! ???
  4. I don't think it's clear at all that this is his plan. It certainly might be, but I don't think it's so obviously the case that we can rule out him being a rookie GM out of his depth and making a series of independent moves. After all, let's not forget about a quarter of that cap space was acquired by accident when Berglund walked away.
  5. No wonder we're going to come up empty handed this offseason. Because Buffalo. ?
  6. If some GM really thinks Risto is a top-pairing Dman and willing to pay accordingly, I think we must trade him.
  7. His career high is 25 points. If that's not a bottom-6 player I don't know what is. I know the line numbering discussion has its problems, but he should be viewed as a 4th liner who can flex to the 3rd here and there.
  8. You'd like it too if you knew how nice it was!
  9. I don't think they'd be willing to trade anyone I actually want.
  10. I think that's a bad reason to buy a player out. Loan him to a team over in Europe or the AHL.
  11. The question is value from the Jets' perspective, not the team that has to sign Trouba. The gap between Risto and Pionk is considerably wider in value than between #31 and 20. So if Pionk and 20 was enough, I don't see why Risto would have to be involved for us to make it happen. Pionk is bad! Cheveldayoff might have wanted a RHD, but I can't help but wonder if McCabe + #31 would have been enough.
  12. Because there's no reason to have him against the cap for an extra season if we don't need more cap space this season.
  13. Do you honestly think Risto is equal to Pionk? I'm not a huge Risto fan, but this really isn't close.
  14. Wait. Hold on. Did you just suggest a trade that isn't totally bonkers? Is the Wookie holding your family hostage or something so he gets his bad trade championship belt back?
  15. Dion Phaneuf. I'm going to keep saying it because it's true. The debates around Risto are seriously identical to those around Phaneuf in his Toronto days.
  16. Well, Trouba has also played on the top pair of a contender. Risto, not so much. It's so hard to think of Risto trades because I'd imagine GMs are as polarized on him as hockey fans are. The only thing I'm confident of is that if he's trades, his fans won't think it was nearly enough.
  17. I'd do Miller for Risto straight up, but if we're taking back Callahan then we need a nice add from their side. I'd almost view them as separate trades, even if they happen and get announced together.
  18. The flip side is this should temper expectations for any return in a Risto trade. The contract situation is more team friendly, but still, I'm shocked the price for Trouba was this low.
  19. I can't believe Vlasic is 32. Without looking, I thought he was like 28-29.
  20. Even when healthy, I don't think he's been good enough to want to lock up for 6 years. I think it was 11 who originally suggested a few months ago not wanting to be the team to do this, and I'm with him.
  21. I'm pretty sure Freeman meant they'd be there because of their play, not because we have no other options. If Nylander is only worth a 2nd, there's no reason to trade him. His probability of being an NHL player at all certainly isn't lower than your average 2nd, and his ceiling is still higher.
  22. He sure did. I just can't imagine focusing on that over all the good he did.
  23. Except it was a bad example, unless you can provide something other than height ? I'm fine with adding Vesey. He's an NHL player who can chip in some much needed secondary scoring. But let's not pretend he's something he isn't. That's all I'm saying.
  24. Dahlin will certainly get a monster deal, but I don't see any reason to think Montour will get anything to be concerned about. Especially with Bogosian coming off the books at the same time.
