  1. Something something negative momentum and emotions from game 5 something something.
  2. Correct. However, it is Bylsma's fault that he implemented an approach to hockey that relied on more Dzone time, and limited the freedom with which defensemen could rush the puck (Bogo's one strength).
  3. At least he didn't take Bennett
  4. Nashville really missing Shea Weber's leadership.
  5. I expect him to be a better NHLer than Gorges. Yes, this season. And yes, even if he's in the AHL.
  6. Now this is the Marc-Andre Fleury we all know and love!!!
  7. If true, it almost makes ya want to root for Pittsburgh tonight, innit? Almost.
  8. Fair. I just think Karlsson is that good. Maybe Risto isn't less than half as good, but I don't think it's that far off. And I don't mean that as a knock on Risto.
  9. Well, we could look at it monetarily. Would you rather pay Risto $5.5M, or Karlsson $8.25M? I'd rather pay Karlsson.
  10. "Lockouts." --Jeremy Jacobs
  11. Good teams with star players are going to be at or near the cap, and have a lot of money tied up in a small group. The test, in my view, is whether the team is overpaying the peripheral players. Pittsburgh is not. They didn't fall prey to paying for past performance. For example, they didn't try to squeeze Orpik under the cap.
  12. That looks like a website I could have made in my 10th grade web design class.
  13. I tend to prefer having a rooting interest in sports. Sometimes that will be against, sometimes it will be for. Unfortunately, my cheer for team right now is Washington :( I agree in principle, but that doesn't mean I can't have preferences as to which teams those are. After all, I always thought the people who wanted Toronto to be good, for the sake of rivalry, were completely insane. They're good, and fun, and I hate it. Why couldn't it have been Florida or something?
  14. Also resentful and bitter. Oh, I have one more: they got my second choice for coach while we got Bylsma.
  15. So you've got Getzlaf, Perry, and Kesler as the size and experience. But. Silfverberg, Rakell, and the entire blue line is all very much new school youth/speed/skill. Really don't think your point holds. I was up until about that point and said F it, I want a good night sleep. Woke up about 5am and couldn't fall asleep for a few hours. Should have just freaking stayed up :wallbash: In no particular order: -Lucic -Ugly jerseys -They get to have Connor McDavid after Wayne Freaking Gretzky and the whole 80s team? F that! I'm also sad I don't get to watch him play more often due to media and time zone. -The Vanek offer sheet. -Caggiula chose them over us. -Kassian isn't entirely useless there. Whole lot of both direct and indirect "eff you Buffalo" stuff in there.
  16. This is the first game all series I think the Oilers have looked like the better team. McDavid legitimately deserves the term "generational." I honestly believe he has teleportation devices attached to his skates. Seriously. It's the only explanation for how he can move so fast and do things at that speed.
  17. I think good organizations make smart decisions. Sometimes that will be taking things to the end of the line, sometimes it will be striking while the iron is hot. The Ducks could certainly use additional forward help (particularly if younger than their current group), and I think it makes sense to do so while trade skids are greased by expansion.
  18. Whoever offer sheets McDavid for the max ($14 mil or whatever) will be my hero. Not that he'll ever even get to the offer sheet stage of RFA. But one can dream.
  19. F 'em. I hope the Oilers go the way of the Sabres against the Canes.
  20. Moving on from Ward/Lack makes a ton of sense, and I like what I've seen from Darling. But 4 years is a pretty hefty investment for a total unknown as a starter. And as an unhappy side effect, I'm worried about what this means for Lehner's contract.
  21. I think a lot depends on where they end up, but if healthy, I think it's more likely than not that Kulikov gets more ice time. I'm not sure that he should.
  22. I couldn't have watched today anyway, but I don't have NHL Network :(
  23. Why yes, I believe we can...if he proves to be dull to listen to. I formally move to nickname him Roboterril. Anyone care to second the motion?
  24. Banking on playoff Kulikov, eh? Tim Murray, is that you? :p Also, seeing as this year's coach/GM traded Kulikov away for Pysyk, I think it's safe to assume Dmitry would not have had that role this season.
