  1. More Tyrod stuff: https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/858681529232445441 If true, my greatest fears are coming to pass.
  2. I'm aware. I'm just still salty over the multiple trades up. Anyway, this is either good or bad news depending on your point of view: https://twitter.com/OptimumScouting/status/858682680430526468
  3. So the Bills rely on a scouting staff they don't think is good enough to continue employing to tell them who is worth trading up for. Maximum Bills.
  4. The existence of the drawing is dumb.
  5. Have the Pens been in the offensive zone yet? And yet, 0-0.
  6. Not a chance. He may not have been there at 6. Liljegren or forward, probably.
  7. this. The lottery is so stupid.
  8. F U! Dude can't throw. Noodle arm. I let out a genuine gaffaw.
  9. I do too, but I think some of it is probably results-oriented analysis mistaking correlation for causation. We finally traded a forward to help the defense, now we're good! "Post hoc ergo propter hoc. It came after it therefore it happened because of it. Except it's hardly ever true." - Josiah Bartlet.
  10. Right, it was a total tank move. It was understandable. The return, however, was horrible. This is my shocked face.
  11. Has Klefbom really taken a step, or has he just been healthy? He was a total stud last season, sans Larsson, and then got hurt. Sekera is who he has always been too. Fair point on allowing Nurse/Russell to be sheltered, though. Undo the trade, and I think the Oilers are in the same place. Healthy McDavid and Klefbom, coupled with Draisaitl's emergence gets them here. Hell, they're still not a very good team when McDavid isn't on the ice. I think the improvement Hall would make on the ice when McDavid isn't, overcomes any trickle down effect Larsson has had on the blue line. I really think the Ducks are a better team than the Oilers. And by a fair margin at that. Difference right now is the Oilers have capitalizes on their few chances, while Talbot is standing on his head.
  12. I think the Preds match up really well against them too. Well, minus the fact that their goalie is Rinne, who can morph into a sieve at a moment's notice. And this series is making me hate the Sekera trade all over again. That honestly may have been Darcy's worst trade...by a wide margin.
  13. I still can't believe he made the play. So many guys would underestimate McDavid's speed and take the wrong angle. Not Lindolm. If he scored more points he'd be in the Norris conversation.
  14. No. And that play by Lindolm on McDavid was quite swell.
  15. A deep draft is all the more reason not to trade up within the 2nd round! The player we traded up to 37 for is unlikely to provide meaningfully more value to the team than the one we could have gotten by staying at 44; the same holds true for the bottom of the 2nd round versus the middle of the 3rd round. NFL teams, and many fans, drastically overestimate their ability to be better at drafting than other teams...that getting their guy is worth trading for because their guy is notably more likely to have a successful career. But the evidence, of which this is only one small part, doesn't bear that out. It's sort of like stock traders or mutual fund managers thinking they can beat the market with their unique insight, only to be routinely beat by index funds. Though I enjoy snarking about the genius label that Belichick enjoys among pundits, he's made a killing by taking advantage of other teams mistakenly believing their guys have significantly less risk of busting than equivalent alternatives--he consistently trades back, accumulating picks, increasing team depth by having more chances to find useful players in the middle of the draft.
  16. That's the thing: there's no such thing as this in the mid rounds of the NFL draft. It's a total crapshoot. Plenty of teams think they're going for quality, as if they're smarter than everyone else...and those teams are wrong. And dumb.
  17. YardsPerPass.com‏ @YardsPerPass 3m3 minutes agoMore Teams always think they know better than others... Every study had shown that the draft has a ton of luck and randomness to it ^^^^This. Especially in the mid-rounds. You want as many kicks at the can as you can get.
  18. I don't have an issue with any of the players taken, in a vacuum. My issue is with pissing away mid-round picks to get them.
  19. Someone needs to get them a book on the value of mid-round picks.
  20. We traded up. Again. McDermott is an idiot.
  21. And the Kizer dream is officially dead
  22. 4-12 would be a raging success. We might actually be in a position for a QB then. They're going 8-8.
  23. I don't think it's smart to tie up the franchise tag on Watkins when the 5th year option was available. No, I don't really care about guaranteed money in case of injury. He's gotta stay healthy one of these years. Right?
  24. The Bills taking a QB is as likely as Murray firing Bylsma.
  25. I eagerly await him not getting any targets. It'll be fun. Then next year, we're going to offer two 1sts to trade up for a QB who will throw to him, and the other teams are gonna be all "lul no I think not."
