Official Jason Karmanos Hired as Sabres Associate GM
Randall Flagg replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
If this Sabres team gets turned into a cup contender, considering that they are in last place by a mile, and have been in last place before since the tank ended, it will be because of moves that haven't been made yet, not because of the tank, 3 last place finishes ago lmao Also, I'm pretty sure Chad said "next couple weeks" so we will be within his window for another ~8 days before I start to wonder/worry -
It is so funny to me how GA is the quickest on this board to anger over KA, especially when he can be perceived as being too slow to act or not doing enough to fix and address things, and at the same time, GA is ready to put Sam at 2C next year along with not adding one single forward to the forward corps next season

If we trade the players we should trade at the TDL, we are down a significant number of bodies. If you can grab a guy that scored 45 points last year to finish out the year with, why not do that to try and give these guys a better chance to win, rather than plugging in a worse player that could be ruined by being in so far over his head, like a Quinn?

Now What? Setting a New Course or Rebuild 5.0?
Randall Flagg replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
What measure are we using to determine which players lead and which ones don't? Is it just that our good players are good players on a bad team, therefore they aren't real leaders? -
They didn't really have the space to do it in one offseason, but it seems like it's going to take a while to dominate in the trenches against the best teams. The DL did great against Baltimore, but both lines were swallowed against the Chiefs

Do you think it's possible or acceptable to go an entire offseason, after this season, making no outside additions to the forward group, assuming we pick up Gusev now? That would be the dumbest thing this organization has ever done, which is saying something. Like, this is literally the 2020-21 Sabres
-
We need bodies post-deadline, especially with injuries, and probably won't get many if any back in those trades. No brainer to grab him IMO

Yeah, I woudln't resent him for not doing it. But I'd try to get him to do it

Official Jason Karmanos Hired as Sabres Associate GM
Randall Flagg replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
It's a full-on rebuild because the second attempt to fix things coming out of the tank resulted in a thing that is pacing to be 10 points WORSE than the tank. IF KA, whose first season as a GM came 6 years after the tank ended, managed to somehow build this team into a cup champion, saying "yay the tank succeeded!" is beyond ludicrous, that's all I'm saying -
Good decision. Now just never wear red on red again

I don't know if and where we've talked about protecting players, but I don't really want to expose one of Dahlin, Risto, Borgen, Joki. A post on hfboards reminded me of something I've thought about. I wonder if Skinner would waive his NMC to be exposed, on the understanding that an expansion team wouldn't want his contract (or maybe he'd rather get out of here?). Then you don't need to use a forward slot on him and you can go the 4-4-1 route, protecting Jack-Sam-Victor-Mitts-Risto-Borgen-Dahlin-Joki. This way you're probably losing Miller. I have no idea if Skinner would be likely to do this, but I'd hope he'd understand that it can make the team he's playing on a little better.

No, because we are in last place 6 years after the tank ended, with those guys. If we get from here to that point, it's because of an entirely new full on build from rock bottom, which is like the 3rd time we've tried to do that since the tank. That success story would be the success of this LATEST build, not the tank -
Local police are asking residents to be on the lookout for a man whose road rage is putting lives in danger. Witnesses say he ran at least 6 vehicles off of the 490 before pulling over, getting out of his car, and fleeing into the thickets, muttering about goddamn mother f***ing april fools, f***ing rasmus f***ing Dahlin, and graphic euphemisms for both male and female anatomy. Whether or not these attacks are random is unclear, but police note that each vehicle contained a Buffalo-Sabres-themed bumper sticker or flag, and all but one contained a Pennsylvania license plate. The man is said to be characterized by his abnormally large calves. We'll have more at 11. Back to you, Keith.

Frustrating. Like that guy

2021 Sabres: Worst NHL Team of All Time?
Randall Flagg replied to Kruppstahl's topic in The Aud Club
IMO we'd beat a couple others too in those conditions -
One of the games that reminds you we can play with teams and with some skill when we aren't playing timid, unconfident, and second guessing every move. I do believe that if the Covid break didn't happen, and Jack stayed healthy, this team would have been ~25th or so rather than the worst in many years. And if we hadn't spent several consecutive seasons allowing insane stretches of losing hockey destroy the good things we had built, maybe it wouldn't have gotten to this point too. I do think that Jason's choice to sit on his hands after building critically flawed rosters created conditions that embedded in the psyche of a lot of these players It's easier to lose 14 in a row when you've seen your team go on insane streaks this time of year often

That second goal was very nice. Very difficult play that looked seamless.

That was a proper response to Monday. I'm happy tonight and am fine with what the coaches are doing with what they've got, but some of the comments here are a little crazy lol. Ralph's sabres also beat this flyers team 6-1, and Granato has led the team to 1 win in 7 games. I'm sure he's a fine interim coach. He won't be HC next year unless we play presidents trophy hockey the rest of the way
