  1. Detroit was fantastic and probably the last example of a 'dynasty', but even they were not like the Canadiens of the late 70s, or the Islanders of the early 80s. Even the great Oiler teams of the mid to late 80s had off years where they did not win the cup. I would love the Sabres to end up like them, but it is less likely in today's NHL.
  2. Are you from the Great White North, eh? In think Thorny is, but he hides in the bushes well.
  3. Sorry, GA, but Bogo certainly is living up to his contrat this season.
  4. Something has happened to the PP this season. Not sure what, but was it not near the top last season? With even fewer finishers than this season, I think, although Kane and ROR are both gone. Maybe they had significant contributions on the PP last season.
  5. The way the NHL is now with parity by design then it is unlikely that a team will be able to win that many cups in a relatively short span. Look at Basstan ... pretty much same core over the last 10, or so, years and 1 cup. Chicago ... 3. Pittsgurgh ... 3, including 2 in a row. LA ... 2 in 10. Washington finally has 1.
  6. It looks like many votes have been cast. You should demand a hand count and make sure all the hanging chads are accounted for, eh?
  7. They have enjoyed remarkable success in the past decade, but are on the downswing and will need to make decisions soon as to what to do with aging vets. A rebuild is coming and soon.
  8. I suppose that more than 8 teams today could be better than 50/50 odds as there is very little separation between current 2 through 9. At this point TB is a given all but offically. Also, the season is only half over, roughly. As the season winds down this will change.
  9. That should not be surprising at this point of the season. If you are in at the halfway point then the odds should be better than 50/50 that you make it at the end of the season. It does seem strange that they have every team listed with better odds than the Sabres and Habs, which would be 9 teams at 50/50, or better. Something does not add up.
  10. Sorry. That happened in 2019, but thanks for playing. Also, of note, in a completely understandable move PA has decided that the first part of 2018 (from last season) does not count either ... it's as if it did not hapen.
  11. Columbia is very nice. I don't think it has the same reputation as it did some time ago. I think that other places have surpassed it in certain, shall I say, industries. Say hello to James for me.
  12. Where? It's a big place? Very fine.
  13. AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ... OH!!
  14. Glad to see that you are fully supporting this blatant 'against the rules' thread. I think we will see Ullie. What did JJ have to say? I must have missed it.
  15. ?I approve of this move. The 'rules' be damned!! +++++ MUST WIN!! GO SABRES!! JUST BEAT THESE DASTARDLY BRUINS!! AAAAYYYYYY OOHH!! +++++ I agree with dark ... ULLIE DON'T FAIL US NOW!! Oh, yeah ... AVENGE PARK!!
  16. That seems rather barbaric, eh? On the other hand, I will place a call to my friend Vlad (no, not Putie, the Impaler).
  17. Skinny. Problem solved.
  18. To use a Bills / NFL term ... Defensive Cordinator. Also, biggest goat in the history of the Oilers.
  19. Relax. You can't vote for 'your boy Matthews' anyway. ?
  20. With the holidays I have no idea what day it is. I obviously miseed the Complaint Window yesterday. Anyway, we are having some snow ... it's beautiful. The damn city still has not cleaned our street properly from the NYD storm and it is a sheet of thick ice. If it were smother I would skate around. It is trecherous and we have anumber of elderly and disabled people on our street. Yup. Happy Friday ..........
  21. Very good summary. The whole thing, IMO, can be summed up in a few words (not that your words are bad, or too many ...) ... the Sabres now have an NHL roster, after years of not. Some of the players are very good to great and some are good, but some are not good enough, but all belong in the NHL. Now, that is not to say that some could use some further development in the AHL, but the question is who would come up to play in the NHL? It also shows that with the vast improvements in the Sabres this season this is the NHL and there is the finest of lines between winning and losing.
  22. Neither of these have been confirmed, eh? Or did I miss something with all the holiday cheer around here?
  23. My wife found this guy through watching Trevor Noah (who is also great). Omid is very funny, IMO.
  24. The NHL is stupid (thank you Mr. Obvious) ... why do I need to sign up in order to vote. I don't want to sign up in order to vote for Jeff.
  25. Great win. It looks like they played well as a team and earned it. Now we can focus on those dastardly Bruins. Some one start the GDT. GO SABRES!!
