I don't really look down on the quality of play in Europe. I honestly do think he'd be a better fit overseas and larger ice would help him develop his game. He could come back like Mark Striet. He just needs more time IMO. -

Brennan has some talent. He just doesn't fit the Sabres as they are constructed right now. He's got a great shot. That doesn't do the team much good if they can't hold onto possession and cycle back, or win a draw cleanly. The guy who is the real deal is Kulikov, who Brennan has been paired with. 50 shades of Steve Ott. He'll blow you kisses, he'll lick your visor, he'll pin your shoulders back too. -

I think it is a coin flip whether or not he's on an NHL roster next year, or if Florida qualifies him. Sometimes the sand just runs through the hourglass. He had 3 years to stick. He just wasn't that sticky. He could still have an NHL career, but I see him in Europe. -

He would have been claimed on waivers for nothing. Would you have waived someone else instead? -

Well....I would hope to see the kids with more ice time at least put in a good show. Montreal is totally dominating. We have to have some gallows humor. -

I've never wanted it before....but this team needs ice girls. It's the only solution. -

That was like an old Koharski call. Gerbe must have said something earlier. -

I'm not sure if I like the Labatt Bleu Bear. He's not as funny when the Sabres are losing. Trade the bear. -
You never know. Either way....if you are talking 3 drafts out, you are talking 6 years out for players making impacts.....so we have an extended timeline. I'm not necessarily against it, but I'm not sure I'm that patient anymore. I've liked Darcy's trades, sure. He seems more active than in the past. But does it really take 5 years to address organizational weakness. (Hodgson, Larsson, and Zemgus, and Grigs are a start). I'd still like to have a guy like Duds shaping the roster instead.
-
my complaint isn't the booing.....it is that the catcalls aren't very interesting. The oranges in the old Aud were booze and cigarette filled for sure, but damn if there wasn't something so funny every game that it would make you spit your beer laughing.
-
(that's why I hated to say it). anyway....I think Darcy's problems extend beyond the draft. It is nice to have picks, but failing to address center ice until the last draft was a huge organizational weakness that wasn't addressed with trades, free agency, or even promoting assets. This season was lost before it was started. If Ennis is the plan at center - (I only want to see him at wing and on the PP) we are in for some long years. That this was a short season was a saving grace of some sorts.
-
I hate to say this. But that actually isn't bad drafting. There's about 20 players there that have played a season in the NHL. And some yet may, so that's pretty good work. The hit rate isn't bad as far as finding NHL players go. Once you get out of the top 15 to 20 picks, the hit rate goes down dramatically. No atta'boys for Darcy as far as "impact" , but they have been beating NHL percentages in terms of finding players.
-
Why we boo? > Navel gazing but not by much. I've booed, but not too often. And I'll admit it, it was Tim Connolly when I finally lost patience with him. Actually Tim Connolly would improve this roster. Not that I want to see it.

Yikes a 50% speed Vanek, and total confusion from Ennis and Stafford. That was an ugly night. When is draft day? -

no comment other than "SNUGGY!!!"

Hang on a second. You can get great players, hold and have great players, and still not have a coherent roster. Try it at home.....take the Sabres roster and make A) A scoring line B) A second Scoring line C) A checking line D) An energy line If you can fill this line-up and say that the Sabres are matching Pittsburgh, Boston, Montreal, and (gulp) even Toronto...line for line...then you can say Darcy did a great job. How is that not his job? At best I can say, I think we are at least 2 years away from even filling these lines.

The Lindy Luke Law - As a discussion continues the probability of this mention approaches 1. The July 2007 Corollary - The same thing for Briere-Drury leaving for free agency.

It's a sure sign that we'll tie for 8 at 53, and lose the tiebreak.

 Goalies are all nuts. However, that really puts Miller's words in perspective.
