  1. Betting large amounts is stupid. I can spend $100 to make an entire college football season "interesting," though. (Not $100 per game; $100 for the season.)

Betting for beer is fun to :D

Well to be fair I did do a couple of poker games in the past among friends, but wasn't fun anymore.

started to lose intentionally because otherwise i kept winning all the time, im just a lucky sob that wins with a 2 and 4 in his hand. :D

  2. Early days for Grigo. I don't think his professional debut impressed anyone, but debuting him at all was based on the fact he has talent.

Twenty years old. I think he gets there, but I'm not happy that this is already a contract year for him.

yeah they massively ###### that one up, but maybe get him a 4 yr deal ?

  3. A Spreadsheet for Perspective.

Stats for all forwards taken between 10 and 15 for the last 5 drafts classes who have had a chance to play.

That just makes him look good :P

All kidding aside, his first year he had no bussiness being up with club, i can understand them trying to give him a shot during the 2nd year.

Because he also wasn't doing to bad during the offseason, but he wasn't playing with john scott then. Just hope he learned some defense and hard work from being stuck at the 4th line.

  4. Serious question: why do you have faith in him? He hasn't shown any glimmer whatsoever of being able to keep up with the NHL game, let alone be an effective player.

His FO % was pretty decent, he was the only one on the sabres during those 18 games he played of whom i thought, hey maybe we'll win one this time.

Also seeing he was only 19 yrs old at the time, i thought he showed some pretty good things, but was stuck playing with baboons who just don't see the game well.

The kid got put in a very deflating position and i don't blame him for not showing "compete" at that age.

I really hate that word, its been thrown around for the sabres the past two years, but all i read is lack of talent.

And everything i hear and read is that he was among the top 3 in prospect camp, well everything i read that didn't come from a fan. :)

Wonder how Reinhart would do playing with john scott, they say he makes the players around him better....

  5. sobotka, 27, had career highs of nine goals and 33 points in 61 games last season for the Blues. He won 61.9 percent of his faceoffs to lead the NHL.

I believe so much in this kid to make this statement, Grigorenko will beat all that in his first full season.

Allthough 33 points would be a dissapointment, thought i read 61 points lol.

  6. Not that it was this group, but I'm sure you remember "It's our team, let's keep it that way" (accompanied by image of cute puppy in Sabres sweater with gun to its head). Ted Black said he can't operate on the assumption that Terry and his money will be around forever. The implied threat for Buffalo sports fans is always there. Support these teams, or else.

Is it marketing? Sure. Like Swamp said, marketing is part of every message the team puts out. Subtle things are even done online, like maybe having an employee of the Sabres communications department moderate a fan message board.

That should be the way to run this organisation anyways.

  7. you want a bold prediction? Stafford gets named captain to start the season, by the christmas break he is leading the team in most offensive categories including ice time for forwards, by the all star break (he gets on the team as the token sabre's rep) he signs a contract extension with a limited no trade clause. also to make this conform with the topic............ Samson centers the stafford line and we all argue about if stafford made samson or samson made stafford's year

I was actually thinking the same a couple of days ago

mostly I just like that he plays the game with his physical skills rather than crazy mental games. I loved Ryan, but I'm ready for a guy who plays with reaction rather than positioning.

Hasek 2.0, you heard it here first.

I know Ullmark had a bangup regular season for MODO, but I watch Makarov instantly adjust to the AHL and keep it going in the playoffs. He has the "thing" that goalies need. Ullmark is probably too good to keep on the bench, that's the only reason I see him traded a few years from now.

Ullmark would make a nice back up though :D

  8. i think carrier is the most underrated prospect that we have… guy plays a pro style game and has been hampered buy injuries the last couple years. people view him as just a toss in in the miller/ott trade but he is anything but. he was a second rounder in last years unbelievably deep draft and st louis traded up to draft him there. he certainly has potential I'm excited to see him in rochester this year.

I think after prospect camp, Willman deserves that prize more.

Will be fun to see Rochester americans games though :D

  9. Thank you for clarifying carpandean. I haven't caught Hayes in action but once viewing a televised game, so I'm not aware of his abilities. But if he's worth it, I'd like to see the Sabres go get him.

Well i guess its a about playing time, and with the sabres he has more than enough chance of getting it.

  10. Once again, Grigorenko is impressive.

Time to get me a Grigorenko jersey, because i believe. :D

Just sucks, almost no store in belgium sells NHL jerseys though, will be hard finding one.

As for Reinhart, i think he needs a year to bulk up. Just don't know if its worth sending him back or not.

  11. Nice to come home from a men's league game and hear all about these signings. I agree Sabres will need some growing up, but the D is solidified with Georges and Mazaros. Myers is expendable now and can be traded for another number 1 in 2015 and the Sabres gained some veteran leadership for the young guys.

All smiles... if Murray does not do anything more except deal with Myers till next years draft he has done more that Darcy did competently in 16 years here. Wow.... I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel and it isn't an incoming train...

No he isn't, and it would have to be a top 3 pick in 2015 to start with.

  12. $4.6 average is too much for Ennis. If everything works out as planned, meaning Sabres hit on majority of these top picks, you end up paying a lot of money for a smallish third line winger. It shouldn't be a problem cap wise considering most of the top young talent the Sabres hope to have over the next few years will be on entry level contracts or bridge contracts.

By that time the cap ceiling might be like 90 million. Its a reasonable contract.
