I'm not against it. I think O'Reilly is the most logical winger for Eichel on the current rostwr but we need him at center until Reinhart and Okposo get going. But part of the luxury of having a superstar center is that he can produce with the right complimentary players and give flexibility to the rest of the forward lines. I don't think that's misguided.

Jack doesn't need a Robin. He needs linemates to make the most of his talents. Zemgus is going to sacrifice his body to get Jack the puck and he's going to be in the crease to cash in on some choice opportunities. Meanwhile, Pommers is going to continue to get to the soft spots in the D and finish Jack's perfect passes. Then the rest of the talent can be used to fill out 2 good lines. We can add breaking up 28-15-29 to the growing list of things that Housley has tried to fix even though it wasn't broken.

Putting your players in a position to succeed is not demoting them. I think Kane, who's frequently been put on teams' "third" lines would understand. If he doesn't, then he's no professional.

Just saw Nightmare Before Christmas in a theater, first time viewing for me. Tim Burton and Danny Elfman are incredible, but especially Danny Elfman. And every movie should be this short.

I think Rheon needs to branch out and try to work some sorta Daniel Radcliffe-y role. I think he has the range for it, but the associations might be too strong.

Kane and Jack together are really bad defensively. Girgensons and Pommers are such perfect compliments to Eichel because neither are high end players on their own and they guarantee that the play is going to be flowing through Eichel (which we want AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE). I don't think Phil has done anywhere near enough homework on this roster. The tape is all there from the Bylsma era. Obviously it's logical to want to try combinations in your own system, but Phil should have seen more than enough so far THIS year to have fixed the lines, or at least to try something different. I still think he'll teach this team how to play real hockey, but I'm very concerned about Phil as a coach long-term.

I wonder how many GoT actors are going to end up making a living in film. I feel like Kit Harrington and Richard Madden are going to end up being tv guys. I could see Kit H doing some comedic films because he is hilarous in 7 Days In Hell. Sofie Turner is already in those x-men films, I definitely think we'll see a lot more of her on the big screen. Alfie Allen pops up in a few things, but it never really goes beyond being type cast as DB. I hope he can branch out. Maise Williams is raking in that BBC money and might cross over to film when she gets older. Carice Van Houten was in an awful exorcism movie with Aaron Eckhart recently. She deserves better than that and I hope we see her more. I'd love to see Liam Cunningham get a leading role in a film. Just make a freakin' Davos movie. Why not? I wonder if we'll ever see Jack Gleason again. Can you come back from being Geoff?

I'm still tryna finish season 2 of twin peaks. The dvd cover of the new season is so incredibly sad. Awwwww. That's too bad.

Assassin's creed is so hilariously bad. Quality wise, it's right there with Assassin's Creed cutscenes. Has there ever been a more promising story idea wasted for so long? At least the most recent AC game is set in ancient egypt, but seriously, ubisoft has like... negative creativity. What kinda terrible? Boring terrible? Garbage terrible? Suicide Squad terrible?

The Japanese version of The Ring makes a lot more sense, moves a lot quicker, and features much better acting. But there's still something so special about the visual style of the American version that makes it a classic.

Our forward lines are such a damn mess. Housley has been pathetic so far. It's such a disservice to both Jack and Evander's game. Blech. Antipin looked good early on. Risto at just under 26 minutes... I miss Nilsson :(

I don't think the threshold is different for top-6ers. If anything, bottom 6ers have to be faster. I agree with Liger that Sam's edge work is above average. His burst and speed are probably about average. He's consistently gotten faster.

I watched The Ring yesterday for the first time since seeing it as a 12 year old and being scarred. It was okay. There's some gorgeous shotmaking and the scares are all grounded and well constructed, but it's just kinda boring. My girlfriend mentioned at the beginning that every time she sees Naomi Watts she wishes it was Nicole Kidman, so I had that going through my head every time she was in frame. The weak point of this film is definitely the writing, and having someone who can tell an entire story on their face like Kidman would've elevated the work big time. I really enjoyed the color palette, which also stuck in my mind from youth. Everything is green except for things that are red. The entire world looks like the post apocalypse. It's really on the nose, but not in a bad way. Gore Verbinski has a knack for taking it to 11 feeling natrual in his worlds. Nothing really scared me until the end. When Samara is walking from the well to the tv screen... jesus. That's the image that lived in my subconscience for years and it's still effective. When she goes through the screen the 2002 use of special effects kills it, but there's that one moment of specialness that made this entire film worth revisiting. Fast forward to today where Verbinski's most recent film was that 2.5 hour long piece of garbage A Cure for Wellness. It's some of the better shots of the Ring re-shot and strung together with scotch tape. Visionary director my ass. So now I'ma watch the original Japanese version, Ringu.

Is The Snowman failing because it's trash or is the name "Harry Hole" just unadaptable to American film audiences? I watched the first few episodes of A Young Doctor's Notebook on Netflix (BBC show, I believe). It features Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe playing the same character at different ages. It's not showing both of their stories, it's just focusing on Daniel Radcliffe's and they're both there. It's set during the Russian Revolution and it's witty and fun.
