Like every season: Vanek plays well, takes too many cross checks, plays injured and mediocre for most of the middle of the season, then heats up at the end again. I wonder how it will work in the shortened season?

I wish that I spent the day playing goalie with no pads instead of watching 2 Sabres games.

Maybe we're trading everyone but Miller for everyone but Perry. I'd do that trade. Then flip Hiller for Crosby and we have a playoff contender on our hands. :doh:

I like and dislike this move. It's good to get Grigorenko away from this trainwreck of a team, and it's good that the Q playoffs are starting for him. I don't think this move jerked him around as much as people are letting on at all (said the kid late to the conversation with the benefit of hindsight on Grig's first game back). It also lets us know that Rolston and Regier aren't trying to go all out on this season. Even though LTS pointed out that they made a decision to use Ennis and Hodgson as the top two line centers and Grigs probably wouldn't have done very well in that role, he was here for 22 games on a horrible team. They could've at least given him a couple games with scoring line wingers and big minutes.

Just watched the game. Glad to see Ville back, and glad to see Myers playing well. Regehr's fight was also awesome. A lot of horrible officiating that changed the outcome of the game. -Missed call (Ennis hauled down) that would've resulted in a 1:20 5 on 3. -Missed call (don't remember exactly) that would've been a long 4 on 3. -Missed call (Neil pinning Weber) that led to the other team's goal. -Weak call on Ehrhoff in OT. Top line was near invisible. Inexcusable when Drew f*cking Stafford scores two goals. I'm beginning to side with X on the Ennis/center debate. He really doesn't seem to get the puck to the scoring area. Although Freeman is definitely right about the current stench of loserdom. In the end of the day, the Sabres' inability to play a full 60 minutes cost them again.

It's calming to think about the Leafs missing the playoffs.

A big part of it is that the Sabres are not a team that always moves its legs and battles for pucks as hard as possible. Grigorenko is around a losing culture and a team that is giving up on itself. I don't know how this is affecting his development, but probably not positively.

The hit was also in the same spot on the ice. Thanks for reminding me. Now I remember why it pissed me off so much.
