  1. so if the Sabres don't get #1, we want the 2nd last place team to get it.
  2. I wouldn't mind him at 32 though, especially if they go D with the first pick.
  3. NHL Central Scouting still has a bias to size. Last season they had Vilardi and Rasmussen 6'6 ranked 4 & 5 respectively, ahead of Makar. Glass, Tippett and Suzuki. I think that explains Tkachuk at 2 (over Zadina) and Dobson and Bouchard at 4 & 5 over Hughes. edit also may explain Noel 6'6 at 10 when some publications have him as a 2nd rounder.
  4. who is Karlsson moving out from the slot? one of the keys to Avalanche's turnaround this season is Samuel Girard. 5'10 160lbs. https://www.denverpost.com/2018/04/11/sam-girard-colorado-avalanche-rookie-vs-nashville-predators/
  5. I don't think he has Laine's shot, but he is probably a better skater and is a bull driving the net. Not sure he is a 40 goal guy but put him with Eichel and its a possibility
  6. Or maybe Boston just has really good players and lots of depth? Did the Blackhawks suddenly forget how to win this year? Its a BS argument, just like blaming the mindset of the Tank 3 years later. Replace the bottom end of the roster with more talent, improve the goal tending and you will win games.
  7. shouldn't be worrying about his size, its the new NHL. Lots of high end Dmen 5'10 to 6'0.
  8. there's that word Again that word "Culture" . Buffalo doesn't have a losing culture, there is no such thing. T The Sabres were a team constantly over matched by better teams who have more depth and more skill. Get better players - get more wins. Simple as that. Can anyone who believe's in Losing Culture explain to me the Leafs 1 season turn around? Missing the play-offs for 9 of the previous 10 and finishing dead last the year prior?
  9. 1) nope 2) yes, yes, Hughes 3) sure 4) nope 5) sure to Hutton.
  10. players / gm / coach's only blame "losing culture" when they don't wan't to call out teammates / players who simply aren't good enough.
  11. sure, I'll take the bet contingent on the Sabres drafting 3rd.
  12. Friendly bet if the Sabres draft #3? I say he takes Hughes over Zadina.
  13. you are good at going back through old posts, can you show me where I wanted this team to finish last before the season even started? so, your plan was for them in 2012 is to go back in time and re-do the draft?
  14. a couple of pieces? Like Crosby and Malkin? Im basing the upside that they will get a top 4 pick, most likely the 4th pick (over 50%). That player will be a huge improvement over the guy he replaces on this roster.
  15. Not sure they will have room with all the banners the Sabres won in the Pre-Tank years.
  16. I agree, im thankful for that as well. Did that for the most part of 40 years as a Sabres fan. Rather experience real pain for 5 / 6 years but then get to watch the young kids potentially take the team to heights we haven't seen before.
  17. We would still have huge holes to fill. So maybe they'd finish 8th last
  18. Once the season was lost , be it December, Nov or even before it began, this is the best result we could have hoped for. Team severely lacks skill and talent. The guy they draft at 1,2,3 or most likely 4 is going to be a huge improvement over the guy he replaces. With a little luck, it could come as soon as next season.
  19. he would never, ever sign with Buffalo. He's looking at winning a cup. how about a win in the Shoot Out?
  20. nope with Girgensons being done for the season, has he played his last game with the Sabres? If he does return, he is no better than a 4th line / 13th forward to me.
  21. Lets check back after this weekend. Will be interesting to see how he does.
  22. Maybe him and Borgen would be a good combo? no doubt Dobson and Bouchard are the safer pick but the elite skating / offensive abilities of Boqvist and Hughes intrigue me.
  23. Will be watching Hughes closely over the weekend at the Frozen 4. He has a chance to move up the rankings now that Bouchard's season is done. Bouchard won't get to play in the u18s as he is a 99 born.
  24. He is committed to Harvard, anyone know if there is an instance of a guy going to Harvard and not completing his 4 years? edit. Just went through the list http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/alumni.php?tmi=6047 I may be mistaken, but I don't think there is anyone else who has gone to Harvard as highly rated as Wahlstrom
  25. does that mean we have seen the last of Nolan and Pouliot?
