I will agree that Sergy shoulda been the pick. McAvoy woulda been going off the board if memory serves me right. If you dump on Murray for Nylander, we have to give him props for drafting Guhle.
-
Way too early to pull the plug on Nylander. Will he be a 30 or 40 goal scorer? probably not but the kid has something the Sabres desperately need and that's skill. Even if he is a 3rd line player and PP specialist.

What Should The Sabres Goals Be For The Rest of The Season?
Crusader1969 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Goals for the 2nd half of the season: Team goal - 41 points in last 41 games, finishing season in 2nd last place (0 points in 1 game played) but Reinhart find his game and put up 25 points in last 41 games. Back to career avg of .6pts per game. (0 points in 1 game played) Sign Mittelstadt, Borgen and Fitzgerald when college seasons ends Trade Kane for a high end prospect who will play in NHL next year and high draft pick Nylander find his place on Amerks and become a point per game producer. -
Wanted to remind myself why Boqvist is ranked so high. Him being a RHD will also boost his draft stock U18 highlites: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6Awl9cY2fqA

https://www.tsn.ca/craig-s-list-dahlin-cemented-top-status-at-world-juniors-1.962249 Thought we would see the "WJC effect" and see Zadina, Svechnikov and Tkachuk fill in the 2-4 spots but Boqvist holds at #2 on Craig's list I'm still leaning towards the WJC stars over boqvist, mainly cause I want to see the 2018 draft pick in a Sabres uniform in 2018. Though, if Boqvist is truely a Karlsson clone, i guess I can wait another year.
-
need room for Dahlin/Zadina/Svechnikov or Tkachuck as well. Plus the prospect received in the Kane trade. thats 7 skilled players added if you include Nylander. With the Cap going up substantially (rumored) i don't see a need to buy out Bogosain.

Maybe I stand alone but,I think he takes the Clayton Keller route and leaves college after his freshman year.
-
I can see Pu playing with the Sabres sooner than anyone expected. Maybe half a year in the AHL. Guys that come from London usually are prepared to play in the NHL quickly. recent knights drafted forwards (round 1 to 4) prior to becoming full time NHL players: Christian Dvorak 2 AHL games Mitch Marner 0 AHL games Matthew Tkachuk 0 AHL games Max Domi 0 AHL games Bo Horvat 5 Games Chris Tierney 31 AHL games Josh Anderson over 100 Michael McCarron - over 100 AHL games

What Should The Sabres Goals Be For The Rest of The Season?

Please no. I think the Sabres becoming at least competitive correlates to him not being around. Even though Bogo has 0 points in his 14 games, I think he has helped stabilize the D and he should get some credit too. -
Can't argue with that. They should be scoring more.

That team in 2005-06 reached the conference finals that season and the following season Woulda/shoulda won the cup if it wasn't for all the injuries on D. Or do you mean the hot end of the 03-04 season? -
Bailey only played 7 games before getting hurt. Had 2 goals and an assist. Which for the Sabres is pretty decent. I still see a really good 3rd / 4th line player in him. Just needs to be consistent bringing it physically each and every night Still a young power forward with potential

True and true. Why I'm wanting 1 more high draft pick. How about Mittelstadt, Guhle, Nylander and Dahlin? Plus high end prospect acquired in Kane trade
-
Cliff Pu rumoured to be traded to Kingston.

What Should The Sabres Goals Be For The Rest of The Season?
Crusader1969 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Curious of others goals for he remainder of season Would you prefer : 1) Sabres play the rest of the season at a 100 point pace over 82 games (1.22 points per game). They would end the season with 82 points. They would probably pass Ottawa, MTL, Vancouver, Edmonton and Detroit finishing 8th last. most likely drafting 7th, 8th or 9th 2) play at a . 500 pace over to he remainder of season - ending year with 72 points. Here, we could pass Ottawa and Montreal - finishing 4th last and drafting anywhere from 1 to 7 3) play at current pace - finish 2nd last with 62 points. Drafting anywhere from 1 to 5 4) completely fall off the rails and finish last, draft no worse than 4th and have highest odds to land Dahlin. I wouldn't want this team to Tank into last place (I know some will be surprised) but I think it's really important to draft 1 of the top 5 prospects who seemed to have separated from the pack. I would actually choose option 2 and hope to finish behind Montreal or Ottawa then pray to all the Gods to remain in a top 5 draft slot -
If it was Zadina or Svechnikov playing wing with Casey, we all would be clamouring for that player. All 3 will be big time players whom the Sabres will be lucky to have.
-
Now confirmed -Will Borgen selected to rep Team USA at the Olympics. Guess I now have a reason to watch

5th would be no surprise at all so it would only take 1 team "going off the board" for it to happen. As for his skating? From recruiters.ca "A hulking winger with a chip on his shoulder and skill to boot, Tkachuk is constantly creating offence with his size, strength, pucks skill and keen hockey sense. A goal scorer, playmaker and tough hombre all rolled into one, where he may have an edge on his brother besides being a couple of inches taller is that he’s a better skater." And there is this: http://nationalpost.com/sports/hockey/u-s-junior-forward-brady-tkachuk-is-exactly-like-his-brother-matthew-just-bigger-faster-and-nastier

January 2018 Mock draft Not an interesting result for me but would be a franchise changing result for the Sabres 1) Buffalo ⬆️1. Rasmus Dahlin - no brainer pick for the Sabres. What can be said about Dahlin that hasn't already been said? I think "the McDavid of defensemen" sums it up best. Not sure how a PP that includes Eichel, Nylander, Dahlin and Mittelstadt could be stopped 2) Vancouver ⬆️3. Andrie Svechnikov - went into the WJC as the #2 prospect and has done me enough to hold that spot even with his limited ice time playing for Russia. Canucks add another pure goal scorer to their lineup. 3) Arizona ⏬2. Filip Zadina. 4) Ottawa ⏬1. Adam Boqvist - Karlsson clone drafted to replace Karlsson 5) Montreal ⏬1. Noah Dobson - Canadians go slightly off the board. Dobson has been moving up the rankings and is now considered best D prospect out of the "q" in years. 6) Edmonton. Brady Tkachuk. - battle of Alberta just amped up a few notches 7) Detroit. Quinn Hughes - Red Wings stay close to home selecting smooth skating Michigan U dman 8) Pittsburgh. Ty Smith 9) Florida. Oliver Wahlstrom - silky smooth US national team forward. This years Owen Tippett joins the team that drafted Owen Tippett last year 10) Philadelphia. Joe Veleno - First player given exceptional status in "q" draft stock had fallen but trade from bottom feeders Sea Dogs to team with much better supporting cast will help Veleno move back into top 10

Definitely don't want them to move out of bottom 2 in the league this season and yes I am very bullish on them going into the 2018/19 season.

Sabres prospects in the World Juniors this year
Crusader1969 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
On the day Bills make the playoffs, I think it's ok to dare to dream of Dahlin wearing a Sabres jersey https://twitter.com/bardown/status/947639871883137024 -
Imagine adding Jones and Tkachuk to the team next year? Not sure if it will translate to wins but it would make it really interesting most nights Thanks update. Think I may still do it as Kyrou could be a star and will mostly likely be NHL ready next season
-
Kyrou and a lottery protected 1st rounder

I agree, Ottawa is the only team they could realistically catch. Guarantees a top 6 draft pick. I believe Hughes would be the 6th player after the guys already mentioned
