Whose idea was the tank and whose decision was it?

let me ask you this, without the tank -where would this team be right now? can you figure out any scenario that would make them anything more that a middle of the pack team? -

Even if you told me it would take 7 years after they drafted Eichel for them to rebuild the team into a cup contender, my position wouldn't change at all. -

Just because they left the board doesn't mean they left the Sabres. Maybe Tankers are just tired of being beaten down by people telling them that they were sold snake oil and that it will haunt the Sabres indefinitely. Threads like this one and the "how bad did the tank fail" may feel like shots to some that supported the Tank. For me, I still love the debate and doesn't bother me at all. ill also be the first to admit that my time frame for the recovery was way off but I still believe the tank was the best course of action. the Sabres coming in last once again this season is probably the best result they can have at this point, IMO. Though, not nearly as imperative it was 3 years ago. Hopefully, the Sabres turn it around next season - led by Eichel, Samson, Mittelstadt and this years #1 we can put the debate in the rear view mirror, where it belongs. I'm also hopeful no one starts the "who deserves credit for the tank" thread. -
I think there is a possibility of Nylander making the opening night roster. This off-season is going to be huge for him. One thing, he does have going for him is that he seems to be willing to put in the work to make himself better. another, who is his competiton on the wing? Girgensons, Wilson and even older pominville? There will be spots for him to win a job

Hopefully you read the article. But yes, I agree with it totally. -

Canucks fans get it: The most hardcore and educated fans are fully on TeamTank http://dailyhive.com/vancouver/sixpack-educated-hardcore-canucks-fans-team-tank-2018 -
what seperates Mittelstadt from Keller and Marner? both hit over 60 in their rookie seasons.
-
My over/under for Casey is 45. He will be on PP1 and spend time on Jacks wing, no reason he wont score at a reasonable clip.
-
If they get the first 31 correct, it will leave the Sabres a few good options at 32. Though, Noel would be an intriguing pick up. Big winger with a bit of nasty, mixed with speed and skill. Could be Tkachuk light?

https://www.tsn.ca/last-place-nhl-team-has-18-5-per-cent-shot-at-no-1-1.1039608 official lottery odds and confirmation of April 28th. Are Sabres play-off contenders next year IF 1) they get Dahlin? 2) Svechnikov or Zadina? 3) rest of the field?

wouldn't you get dimes on the Dollar if you tried to trade him now. Sabres biggest weakness is on wing now that they have Mittlestadt, I can't see them giving up on a talented winger when he just turned 20.
-
If Mittelstadt plays C then he is either going to slot into a 4th line role or move to wing. Though I could see him making ROR expendable in a couple of years.

surprising that they will start Mittelstadt at centre. I'll guess that he will get Baptiste and Bailey as his wingers. Erod would then move to Jacks wing. Would love to see pommers find his way to the press box, I'm soooo done with him -
Definitely Dahlin has been playing on the right side as a LHD. Not sure it means he will play on the right in the NHL or not. Hopefully the Sabres are the ones who have to make that decision.

There should be a couple of puck moving Dmen available at 32. Next steps, is to clinch a top 4 pick and then off to the lottery!
-
From Elliotte Friedman - Schuldr to decide if leaving school, MTL is interested.
-
Hughes sold me this past weekend, thought he had a great couple of games. Plus, wouldn't adding him be good Karma for next years Jack Hughes lottery?
-
I won't be unhappy with whomever they choose (unless they go way off the draft board). If Nylander wasnt a big "maybe" i could see drafting Tkachuk. I don't see Tkachuk helping the Sabres biggest need - skill and speed. I feel confident that Mittestadt will help make any of his wingers really good. Though, I can see him being on Jack's wing next season.
-
Now that Mitelstadt is in the fold, im even stronger in my conviction to draft either Boqvist or Hughes at 4.
-
i really really like Dobson but he doesn't skate like Hughes. Think Hughes skating is a dimension that the Sabres desperately lack at the moment. That still leaves Jack without any wingers but that can be solved when Mittelstadt leaves Minnesota. I should have added the Caveat, assume the pick isn't traded.
-
yes the Notre Dame goalie Cal Morris. And the Sabres can get all the help they can get!
-
At this point, its likely that the Sabres end up in last and draft 4th. (50.65%) Assume the draft goes as expected - Dahlin, Svechnikov and Zadina. Who do you take at 4? Im leaning Hughes at this time. PP Qb, Offensive Dman who may be the best skater in the draft. Still has much to work on in his own end but not many 18 year olds don't.
