  1. Sportsnet rankings https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/sportsnets-2020-nhl-draft-prospect-rankings-january/ i see it being a very strong top 9 for the sabres, get me a serious run and the playoffs first and foremost. If they can’t do that, get me one of the top 9. Id lean towards centres until that 2C is legitimately filled. my early guess is only Lafrenière plays in NHL next season
  2. Getting to the point when the draft rankings aren’t that early anymore. Here is a mock draft from sporting news sabres hold the 8th pick. (Sounds familiar) https://www.sportingnews.com/ca/nhl/news/nhl-mock-draft-2020-ottawa-senators-select-phenoms-alexis-lafreniere-marco-rossi-la-kings-get-goalie-of-future/10oiwozpuylo61xqv7m5wyztdd
  3. wasnt the rumour that Samsonov was the pick if they didn't trade for Lehner?
  4. They are a quality 2C away and either a hot goalie or an elite goalie away IMHO as for the elite goalie, I’m learning to be extra cautious when it comes to prospects, but UPL has been elite at every level he’s played so far. the 2C is much more problematic
  5. Please list the “good” players that they traded away?
  6. Not to nitpick but this thread should be why the rebuild didn’t work. The Tank got us one of the top 5 or 6 forwards in the league. The exact type of player to build around luckily there is still many years left in the career of eichel and Dahlin
  7. any suggestions who the Sabres could acquire as a 2C? ive gone over a bunch of rosters and really can't find anyone who might be available that the Sabres would target.
  8. 100% right, the season rests on the 10 January games. need at least 15 points. Got 2 last night, so good start. Anything less and its back to Team Tank. Make a run at the playoffs even if you come slightly short or finish bottom 5...nothing in between
  9. how about both Borgen and Pilut? still have to clear McCabe, Miller and Bogo before that happens
  10. wayyyy to early to consider him a bust. He may never reach the 2C status that we all figured he would be but I still think he will figure it out to be a good NHL player at some point. I would consider bringing him back up to play LW with Eichel, just to give him a confidence boost and see what he can do. Maybe would have happened if he was torching the AHL? instead of flaming out so far.
  11. If they could trade him they would. Problem is the player and the salary. Ideally, I believe they want Pilut with the Sabres. Still need to move 1 more dman out the door. I think Miller is the more likely to get moved.
  12. Reading through Flames fan boards, he seems to be a fan favorite as a hard working role player having a tough year offensively but maybe a change of scenery will help Wow How can you think he’s worth anything more than that I’d say getting a 4th for him was more than he is worth
  13. unfortunately, its looking like the Sabres only hope to get the 2C we desperately need is by drafting in the top 5 of the draft this year. It will suck having to watch the next 41 games but the only way I see out of this mess is by having Cousins and a top 3/5 pick come in next season. I'm still not in tank mode but will be in a month. no more drafting 8th overall.. Make playoffs push or top 5.
  14. It will be “wait till next season until you either get a true 2C on the team OR you get a superstar goalie Hopefully by next season they have both at least in the organization.
  15. I’m still a month away from thinking about next season. Sabres have 10 games in January and need to come out of the month with at least 15 points. Otherwise, time to sell and worry about draft position.
  16. I will mention the PP has improved a bit in Dec. still only avg at best. The PK continues to kill them. overall the team was slightly worse than avg in Dec. ranked 20th
  17. We should have traded them Erod and Sherry when their analytics showed they were good but the eye test told us they were awful
  18. I was curious to look at the standings since Nov 1st 2019. I knew it would be bad but didn’t think that the Sabres would be the 2nd worst team in the league since that date. I honestly think it boils down to special teams. The PP is 2nd worst at 10% and the PK is the worst since Nov 1st. Fix that and you have at least a mediocre team. don’t fix it and they probably end up bottom 5 once again
  19. the sad part is that the Larsson Line should the 4th line.
  20. That 4th line is as as bad as any line - up to and including the tank years.
  21. its always been about the 2020-21 season. I do believe the rumors that he is trying to make a "significant" move. It will come but maybe not until the off-season. Unfortunately, as the saying goes, it takes 2 to Tango. I know we all blame JB for not doing anything but who are the second line centers out there worth giving up at least a 1st round pick? I'm not sure that player exists. but the calculator Sabres bloggers told us that Sheary just had bad puck luck!
  22. It was two commentators one was the lady that usually hosts the show and not sure who the guy was Matthews was #1 on both lists, Pastrnak, Marner and Barkov were also on both lists.. She had Vasilevskiy on her top 5. The guy had Point.
  23. their list was under 25, to be fair to them Think both lists included Marner, Matthews (#1), Barkov and Pastarnak
  24. Had the displeasure of listing to Leafs lunch here in Toronto this afternoon. Thought maybe they'd have some decent Sabres coverage. The two hosts did a power ranking of the top 5 players under 25 in the Atlantic Division. Guess who didn't make either list???? Every time Jack plays vs Toronto he is the best player on the ice, you'd think that might resonate with them???? Matthews was, of course, number 1 on both lists. What would your list look like? would anyone not have Jack in the top 2? He's possibly top 3 in the league at the moment, IMHO
