  1. I feel your pain. My son and I drove up from VA to the Bills/Cowboys game, then went to the Sabres/Blue Jackets game (sat two rows behind the Sabres bench). The first goal scored by the Sabres was great…then Columbus scored the next seven goals. It was our first Sabres game since 2011 and last one for another long while.
  2. I disagree about starting over new will automatically spell 3 years or more with no playoffs. Getting a good GM/coach to weed out the players that aren’t cutting it would be a good start. One thing I miss about Lindy Ruff was that he would bench players he thought were slacking…there’s no way DG would do that, he wants to be the players buddy.
  3. Yes, that was me. How have you been? I’m not the type that feels you need to fire everyone every 2-3 years. I’m just looking at the overall picture. The team has regressed significantly this year. IMO, not signing a veteran goalie in the offseason and starting Levi in Buffalo (instead of Rochester) were huge mistakes. Also, Adams only signed lower level talent this offseason and no one to help the Sabres take the next step. Adams inexperience is costing the team (again!) Even Paul Hamilton talked about how Adams inexperience has hurt the team this past offseason after the segment I called into.
  4. I cringe at the idea of bringing in another “up and comer” who’s inexperienced. Between Murray, Botterill and Adams, it hasn’t worked.
  5. Seems since the Pegula’s bought the Sabres, they’ve had inexperienced GM’s (Murray, Botterill and Adams all first time GM’s) and mostly inexperienced coaches (Rolston and Krueger having prior HC experience). Unfortunately, the results have showed over the years. Should the Sabres bring in an experienced GM who’s had success in the league, as well as a retread HC, who’s had previous success?
  6. Murray traded away draft picks and prospects like a drunken sailor on payday
  7. Ryan starts talking about Darcy Regier at the 14:15 mark and described Darcy as a visionary with how he was able to build the Sabres with the budget restraints he had. I like that Ryan said that, as I felt it was an indirect jab at Golisano/Quinn. It’s too bad the Sabres didn’t have owners that were on a budget crunch during the 2005-07 period. Still baffles my mind we had two of the best goalies in the NHL between Hasek and Miller for about a twenty year period and no Stanley Cups to show for.
  8. So far, they’ve exceeded expectations. As far as if they have arrived, not sure yet, but I love what I’m seeing so far.
  9. I just watched two episodes of a new show called “Coopers Bar,” mainly because Rhea Seehorn [Kim Wexler from Better Call Saul] is in the show. The main character in the show is Buffalo actor, Louis Mustillo. Louis plays “Cooper” who works in Hollywood and is a former bartender from Buffalo. In the first episode, they mentioned the Bills greatest comeback against the Oilers. The second episode is heavily Buffalo area focused (discusses Buffalo weather, bars, chicken wings, etc.) Direct TV lets you watch the first two episodes for free, then you have to pay for the rest. So far, I enjoy it and it’s nice to see Buffalo getting a lot of love in a TV series. Also love seeing Rhea Seehorn!
  10. Rob Zombie/Mudvayne/Powerman 5000/Static-X this Saturday in Bristow, VA. Next month: Metallica in Pittsburgh, Rammstein in Philly. Other shows: Megadeth; Testament/Exodus/Death Angel; Alice In Chains.
  11. I think Kim was overwhelmed with grief seeing how Howard was executed, what it did to Howard’s wife and how the whole sandpiper situation cost the company to downsize by half, by which a lot of people will be out of jobs. Glad Kim is still alive, but seeing her leave (a BCS original from episode 1), was sad to see as it was an end of an era. Once that happened, it was also a goodbye to Jimmy as he fully transitioned to Saul. I’m curious to see how much pre-Breaking Bad stuff we’ll see with Saul, as well as how much post-Breaking Bad stuff we’ll see with Gene over the next four episodes. My guess is Gene will get in contact with Kim since Gene has been spotted by the cab driver in the mall. Curious if Gene will have Kim turn him into the police so Kim gets the reward money for Saul.
  12. I hate to say this, but the rebuild that’s going on now with the Sabres is how it should have went years ago. Instead, Murray gave away almost every draft pick and prospect just to speed up the rebuild, which backfired big time and set the franchise back many years. With Botterill, did someone recommend him to the Sabres just to intentionally sabotage the team?! Did KA stick with bad goaltending in hopes to stay at the bottom of the league to land another high draft pick? IMO, it’s possible KA knew the team wasn’t ready to contend for a playoff spot and it was going to be a development year for the younger players this season, so why sign any key FA’s to a big contract when the team isn’t ready?
  13. That’s awesome! I saw SOD in Oct 1999 in Philly and seen MOD about ten times.
  14. Heard they didn’t like this song about them from S.O.D.
  15. Sorry to hear that! How were Testament and Death Angel to deal with?
  16. Three Doors Down Fozzy Testament, Exodus and Death Angel Overkill and Demolition Hammer The Cybertronic Spree Hoping to go see Slipknot as well.
  17. IMO, that can be attributed to hiring inexperienced GM’s every few years, as the new GM had his way of building the team and it backfired. We saw this cycle with the Bills for many years until McDermott and Beane were hired, rebuilt the Bills their way and made it successful. While the Pegula’s hit a home run in hiring a first time head coach [Beane] and first time GM [McDermott], I know Terry has gotten a lot of advice from Bill Polian since he bought the Bills. Maybe it’s about time Terry seeks out an experienced hockey guy and listens to him, in order to get out of this vicious circle the Sabres have been in.
  18. Good question. I just think Murray gave up way too much between draft picks and prospects to get those players. It just seemedMurray was only focused on having one or two great lines, but that’s nowhere near enough to win in the NHL. You need three to four good lines to win. You can’t expect your top line to win you every game.
  19. IMO, it’s a combination of bad decisions throughout the years. I’d say both.I get that Murray was trying to speed up the tank, but he gutted the team of the assets the tank built up (prospects, high draft picks). The Pegula’s biggest problem IMO is with hiring and continuing to hire inexperienced GM’s. The last three Sabres GM’s were assistant GM’s with no prior GM experience.
  20. Agreed 100% Not only did Murray trade away tons of prospects, he traded away high draft picks as well. By trading away all those assets, he set the team back many, many years.
  21. It sounds like he’s saying “there’s a bathroom on the right!”
