Are there major changes coming this summer and who will make them?
LGR4GM replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
If you start with the premise Adams is an average intelligent person, he made those trades because he could, no more thought than "I can make this trade" It takes more intelligence to fit all those pieces into a ever changing puzzle. -
Chad D: expect a Byram trade at or around the draft

Byram is the 35th highest scoring defender in the NHL this past year with basically 0 pp time and he's only worth a late 1st round pick? If that's the case we should trade a late first for Brock Faber. I'm being sarcastic but wtf are we doing here? -
Dallas has no draft comp to offer

If Adams can trade top 4 defender Byram for a late first, why the ***** can't he trade 9oa for a top 4 defender? -

See this is where I think Adams fails. He calls around, gets other teams offers and doesn't make strong enough counter offers. -

Byram for a late 1st is not interesting to me. Maybe if there's something added but the difference between 27 and 37 in this draft is not much. -

Carter Bear could slide into the early 20s cuz his injury scares teams. Or not, once you get into the 20s this draft gets less exciting. -

SJ and Chicago make a ton of sense. -
I don't think Tuch makes sense. They'd still have to sign him next summer which is the big problem.
-
It's why I think a Peterka trade could work. They basically sign jjp for 7.25 and it covers having to worry about Robertson next year. They'll need to move some more this year but they want to keep that window open and Peterka at least gives them decent production.

I prefer players I don't have to teach toughness. Like Zach Benson, or Carter Bear

Adams and Pegula do.

Yes on Pronman. Psenicka has physicality, I'm curious if it improves as he adds strength. "Simply put, Pšenička is a playoff-style defenceman: High-paced, physical, fearless, and intelligent. With a never-quit attitude and quick feet, Pšenička is always impacting the play. He denies entries with well-timed pokes off the rush, aggressive step-ups, and hits. Along the walls, he wins inside position as soon as possible, intercepts opponents with his shoulder, and immobilizes them. Instantly rotating and switching assignments, he’s rarely behind the play – and he has the reach and quickness to correct mistakes. No matter the situation, Pšenička never stops battling. He gives himself a chance to impact every play with his motor, and he’s always willing to absorb punishment to make a play." Elie Prospects Owen Power

Just Over half of JJ Peterka's assists were secondary. He probably is a 30g scorer. You can't trade him for futures, you'd need to find a slightly older player with better metrics defensively. That's a tall order and unless Jason Robertson is coming this way, idk who that player would be, so you keep jjp.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6413760/2025/06/10/nhl-draft-2025-prospects-rankings-pronman/ My favorite profile in here is Psenicka who Pronman gives below average skating too and then says "He skates very well for a 6-foot-5 defender. His mobility and ability to make stops allowed him to play pro games at the top level in Czechia before coming over to the WHL midseason." So... he's a below average skater except he's not? Oh wait found another below average skater... "Kettles stands out immediately as a 6-foot-5 defenseman who can move at an NHL level. He will be able to close on checks and retrieve pucks at the top level due to his mobility." Pronman rates skating based solely on speed.

Sam Bennett shoots below average just about every spot on the ice. Blue is below average White is average Red is above average

Well aware of what side of the ice Rasmus Dahlin likes. I don't think Miller would be great as his partner. Ok, well that's his projected salary on a 6year deal in 2 different places give or take 200k.

"Your D" not "our D" Interesting.

So now you conservatively have Dahlin at 11 whatever, Samuelsson at 4.3, Power at 8.3, Miller at let's say 6. That's 4 lhd for 30 million roughly. As I said, unless you can jettison Samuelsson, this doesn't make sense. And you still have to trade Byram.
