The San Jose Sharks 2024 draft is a masterclass. Celebrini 1st overall Dickinson 11th overall Chernyshov 33rd overall They got 2/3 of a top line and 1/2 of a top defensive pair in 3 picks. Would take Buffalo years and year to accomplish the same feat. Then you have their 2023 class and it is also a masterclass in drafting... IMPO I think Adams and Pegula have given off the air of "we're better than you" quite frequently when it comes to the Sabres and hockey. This board collectively would run the team better and probably discusses things in more detail than Adams and his buddies. Back to your point though, it is always hilarious when these pressers happen and Adams gives BS answers while talking about accountability. I will never forget his "coach search" presser with Lindy. Called him a liar then and stand by it now after we learned that his "process" was biased shenanigans. -
Not that I can remember. The last trade into the top 10 I think was Corey Schneider in 2013 when on the draft floor he was traded for 9th overall. 8th overall and stuff was traded for Jordan Staal in 2012. The last trade up was probably the Sedin trade in 1999 but that happened before the draft (we should count it here though). Arizona moved up to 11th in 2019 by trading with Philly at the draft. Arizona traded up to 11 in 2022 at the draft. San Jose famously traded up last year to 11 with Buffalo. I still don't love this move as Buium and Dickinson went right after and frankly would already make Byram or Power expendable if they had been taken. Buium is going to be amazing and Dickinson has #2 defender written alllll over his profile.

No. The NHL draft almost never ever sees teams move up in the early first round. But the trade you propose is probably in the ballpark of going from say 7 to 4/5 but I don't think a team will want to move. If we draft at 7/8 there will be good options available. You are probably correct though that the 2nd tier ends at 5. Tier 1: Schaefer, Misa Tier 2: Martone, Hagens, Desnoyers Tier 3: Eklund, O'Brien, McQueen, Frondell, Smith, maybe Aitcheson and Bear (I think O'Brien really won over a lot of scouts in the last couple months)

Donald Trump has effectively declared open war on every institute of higher learning in America. Columbia already capitulated but Harvard, yes Harvard, actually stood up to what can only be describe is massive government overreach, censorship, and threats. The results are predicable, Trump's sycophants and bullyboys are attacking, they have decaled war. IRS, Homeland Security, NIH, all of them have attacked because their Emperor was told no. This is being done under the guise of "fighting antisemitism" which is in itself some antisemitic bullcrap. Criticism of Israel in not antisemitic anymore than criticism of the United States makes you anti-American. It is a fake argument that is being used in an effort to do what Trump does best, extort and control. He wants control over higher education because he needs control over higher education to make sure he controls the thoughts of people. He is lashing out because research universities produce the very types of things that show his administration is already a disaster with leaks, misused funds, and an economic policy so awful it has already wiped up trillions in value. He also knows that Universities will be publishing work that shows his tax policy will instead just be another example of Welfare for Billionaires. Most of you will ignore this. It doesn't impact you right? If the Trump administration can do this to a University, it can do this to a State. If it can do it to a State it can do it to specific States (blue ones). It can do it to specific Counties or specific Cities. Basically Trump will use the power of the presidency as a cudgel to force anyone and everyone into his way of thinking. Your freedom now at risk. The Sabres can now only draft 6, 7, or 8th. Anaheim is out of reach at 9. This doesn't take into account the draft lottery.

These two statements conflict. First, suggesting a judge should offer proof of guilt is just insane when it comes to something like this. How would a judge, who is supposed to sit in judgement of evidence, provide evidence? It literally makes no sense. Second, you counter your own original argument by saying the "administration" meaning Trump, should have concrete evidence. So which is it? The judge should provide evidence or the government doing the deportation should provide evidence. I've noticed now that all of Trump's sycophants have labeled Abrego Garcia some version of terrorist or gang member and yet, to this point, they have offered 0, zilch, nada in the way of proof of such an accusation. You accused me of supporting returning terrorists to the US which is still horseshit, but I do believe we are a nation of laws and due process should apply to everyone within the confines of the United States. If Abrego Garcia is a gang member and terrorists, provide proof of that in a court of law. It is not, will not, and should not, be up to judges to provide evidence to the contrary. It is the responsibility of prosecutors to prosecute a case and present their evidence. Once you change to the government, without any evidence, can send anyone it wants to a foreign prison at any time, we no longer have a country. We have a dictatorship. "nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution.

The Constitutional Crisis is officially here. When Trump officials are found in contempt of court and are shielded from that ruling by Trump, we will officially have reached crisis because if Trump can ignore court orders and the courts have no recourse through contempt, then the courts themselves are no longer a co-equal branch under the law.

We didn't accomplish what we wanted, we wanted to make the playoffs (nervous laugh), and we didn't reach that goal but I think and I really believe that we saw these guys really grow together. They really matured as a team and you saw, you saw that at the end of the year (pause). I think that is something we can build on and we are committed to getting better and we have a good group of people." And now you all do not have to listen to Kevyn's rambling incoherent response where he offers nothing that could be considered a rational thought. They don't do their jobs though. -
Look, we are going to see list after list put Frondell in the top 8 and I get it. He isn't my cup of tea. I see a player that relies a lot on others (coughEklundcough) to create the havoc needed for Frondell to do his thing. He can win battles and has nice checking skills, he's engaged, his shot is probably 4th in this class, maybe 3rd. (Misa, Carbonneau, Lakovic/Frondell) but I just want a bit more from him. There is a lack of creativity with Frondell that worries me and I don't want lesser JJ Peterka. I would rather gamble on Carbonneau or Eklund than take Frondell is the point. I hope he goes ahead of Buffalo's pick and pushes someone else lower (Desnoyers maybe Hagens) Right now I think the top 6 players taken will be Schaefer, Misa, Martone, Hagens, Desnoyers, and Frondell.

Let's talk about Jack Nesbitt. He's a 6'4" center with some physicality and some good hands. He lacks pace, I don't find his shot particularly interesting, his overall skating is fine-ish. Really with Nesbitt you have the profile of a guy we typically see drafted late in the first round: Big center with good hands that has some flaws. At 12, I think that is very much a reach for him. For example Bear is a better skater, has the same or better defensive game, has a better shot, similar skating, but more checking/energy. Why would I take Nesbitt? Kashawn Aitcheson, the 6'1" LHD. Now this ranking is actually more probable. To some degree he is the Carter Bear of defenders. Constantly engaged, scouts literally wont shutup about how he is always moving and engaging and making plays all over the ice. That's a good thing though. There is a very real chance that Aitcheson is the 2nd defender taken in this draft as teams will love how he plays. I question some of his decision making on offense from what I have watched but he's really solid in the defensive zone. If Buffalo drafted 9th and took him, I wouldn't bat much of an eye. He's got good skating, maybe great in time, and he's physical in his own end with lots of battle and energy. Interesting player that if he is 6'2" at the combine, I could see him jump a spot or two on some boards because teams covet bigger defenders.

It is totally unacceptable. Adams has repeatedly and continuously dragged his feet, shown favoritism, made bad contract choices, and blatantly refused to improve the very obvious issues with the roster. Marty Wilford is clearly not good enough. Seth Appert's powerplay is trash. Running this back is like if the Titanic had crashed into the ice berg, then circled around to hit it again. -
