  1. Right, but if they got Dach in a Jones trade, a Dach/5OA offer is competitive with the others we’ve heard. I’m still hoping for a Ducks deal, preferably one that leverages Zegras.
  2. I suspect many current offers are built around picks in this year’s draft. Some (Rangers, Wild) can easily be shifted to a similar asset post-pick. Some (Ducks) cannot. If Adams played his cards right, he had acceptable offers on the table by last night and he is playing them off each other to maximize return. If he hasn’t got an acceptable offer yet, it’s unlikely he’s going to get a better one after the draft. Eichel is a front-burner move, not something you circle around to after Plan A falls through.
  3. Adams wants to trade him today, of that I am sure. The question is has he played his hand well enough that a worthwhile deal is on the table?
  4. Just Guhle would be an absolute home run. He offers everything Borgen does with legitimate upside. This would be incredible just to watch the “number sniffers” (outstanding @Weave) melt down. I’m not sure how a Risto return could be. I’ve been told for years it would be a win if we just give him away.
  5. Sabres: Eklund Kraken: Power Ducks: Eidvinsson Devils: Hughes Jackets: Clarke Wings: Wallstadt Sharks: Guenther Sabres: Beniers Canucks (traded): Johnson Senators: McTavish
  6. Five years ago we were talking about Boston On the downswing because their core was all pushing 30 and that’s when teams usually start to decline. What happened was not that a good organization found ways to pass the torch, but that the aging core stayed good. Marchand is 33, Bergeron 35, Krecji 35, Rask 37. And the guys they’ve augmented the roster with - Hall, Smith, Coyle, Reilly, Grelczcyk - are all pushing 30 as well. Theyve made a lot of mistakes in the draft, but that core - which they accumulated mostly through luck - continued to insulate them. They’ve got two good players whose best years aren’t behind them - Pastrnak and McAvoy. The fall is coming.
  7. Both Matt Boldy and Marco Rossi would be a helluvalot better than what we’ve heard previously. Boldy doesn’t get talked up much, but he’s a damn good prospect.
  8. The same Dominik Kahun the Sabres foolishly let get away last summer…? 🤐
  9. I’m starting to think the Wild are the stalking horse bid the Sabres (and now Eichel’s camp) are using to drive up the bids.
  10. Not me. I think I might Linus’ biggest booster on here. Well, after @MODO Hockey This is true. The reason I’m mildly excited is because of Tom Webster’s post. When he played we were a 90-point team. He’s backup because Hutton is crap?
  11. 26/20/6 with the Sabres. Are you saying that with a “real” starter the past two years we were a playoff team?
  12. I hear you, and know I rate Linus much higher than most of the board. But to me he is a core player who is about to blossom into one of the league’s best and the thought of losing him is just a half-step below Reinhart on the suckitude scale.
  13. While I strongly agree another goalie is a necessity, there was/is no better goalie on the market than Linus. There was a very good chance our goaltending was going to go backwards this summer.
  14. Tom’s usually got a great handle on these things.
  15. This is fantastic news!
  16. They just signed him to an 8-year deal. I don’t think he’s available.
  17. Canes targeting Ullmark?
  18. Weren’t gostisbehere and Nedlkovijc both available for free on waivers a few months ago?
  19. I have no idea about how this might work with the Avalanche's cap, but Reinhart for Newhook seems to make a ton of sense to me
  20. Setting the stage for Risto to Montreal
  21. What if the process is "when we agree to a deal, you get to see the see the records, with the subject-to of calling it off if you don't like what you see?" What if Friedman actually said the Rangers and Wild haven't seen the records, leaving the door open for 29 other teams? What if people are lying?
  22. I would be shocked if Power is not a clear-cut #1 on Francis’ board.
  23. Five teams make sense for Eichel and have been playing poker hoping Adams will bend. He hasn’t yet, and now their cards have to be put on the table. Rangers and Minny need a 1C to complement their Russian stud right now or they waste him. Kings and Ducks have the young pieces, the cap room and the need to make their franchises relevant in that market. Vegas desperately wants the missing link for their cup. One of those five will step up. Sounds fine to me. You both entertain me.
  24. Well, in his defence, he’s been pretty honest about not knowing what Buffalo is up to, and about not trusting the intel he’s being given about other teams.
  25. I think being a GM is a long-term process of getting your people and philosophies in place, then acquiring and developing talent. I’m always going to give a GM time to see how his moves unfold. Even if they seem as stupid as auctioning off a franchise player at his absolute lowest value point.
