    29-17-6 would get us to 90. Seems highly unlikely. If they do something like 7-2-2 over their next 11, then you're looking at finishing out the second half with at 22-15-4 record. So basically, they have to repeat the last 11 over the next 11 to get to a point where they just have to play really great hockey in the second half in order to miss the playoffs by 2 points. ugh.

    I said I'd take it, upthread, it was a great win. It was one of the best defensive performances ever. It was awesome. And if a fan doesn't think this D has been completely wasted this year. They are willfully blind or completely football illiterate.

    The restaurant food in Ohio is absolutely fantastic. I still can't figure out how i stayed so thin living there for 7 years.

    I starting to fear that the inability to fix the quarterback situation may cause one of the greatest NFL defenses of ALL TIME to never make the playoffs. That is startlingly Buffalo.

    That's what I'm thinking. Like Deluca wrote, this team has strong young defense, good penalty kill, and great goaltending. Getting a top 2 pick would obviously be ideal, but we can build from there if we have to. 3 more 1st round prospects in the system will only make us better in the long run than we are now. If you have 13 first round picks over 7 years, at least 9 of which will make your roster NEXT YEAR... By shear volume we should be awesome in a couple years.

    But there's no way we fall to eight, right? :) (in all seriousness, the McEichel or Bust contingent isn't going to be convinced that any top 10 player is going to help this team. The shiny object(s) this year are too ridiculously shiny to notice the other good players.) Several posters have said or insinuated exactly that.

    This is why I'm asking if it will be possible to trade up to #4/5. I think 3 firsts and a midlevel prospect gets it done. but would it be worth it? or would it be better to roll the dice 3 times.

    The Buffalo Sabres are 9-3 in their last 12 and are now closer to the playoffs than to last place. This makes absolutely no sense to me. None. This roster is rookies surrounded by Matt Moulson and a pile of Awful. I'll take it. 7 days a week and twice on Sunday.
