  1. If that happens, this would almost certainly go down as the greatest trade in franchise history. If that happens AND Moulson and Gorges are still contributing in 2018 when we win the cup, this would go down as the greatest trade in Hockey History.
  2. Agreed. He's always heading in the right direction, he's just not there yet.
  3. yup. he's here to convert $4M into an additional pick come March. between Him and Staff, we could have another solid haul of first round picks.
  4. Agreed. I mostly wanted to use the platform to espouse my interpretation of the Andrej Mesz;lsfkaros signing.
  5. PA doesn't owe an apology. WE should be thanking him, now that Terry has finally taken his advice.
  6. Hadn't though of that. This guy better pan out. Trading first round picks off fringe teams is always a terrible risk. Just ask Garth Snow.
  7. Interestingly, he plays way better defense on the weekends. Mon-Thurs: 43 games, 26 points, -22 Fri-Sun: 29 games, 18 points, -2
  8. (The only issue I have with the infographic is that the draft picks really didn't go "out' they were transitional as they came in with the original trade.) Traded 6 months of Thomas Vanek (and 1 month of McCormick) for Matt Moulson, Torrey Mitchell, Josh Gorges, a first round pick (with a shot at McDavid) and 3 picks in the first half of the second round. That's Hershel Walker ###### right there. H/T: Two in the Box
  9. Also, trading our first round pick for Tavares almost guarantees that the Islands finish in last place.
  10. I think the key here is the and I put Mezaros more on the lines you are stating. I think Moulson and Gionta are more toward what Kas is talking about (I understand that you were not implying that Moulson and Gionta were anything different.
  11. The only thing that will matter is wins.
  12. You'd think these circumstances would INCREASE your ability to express sarcasm!
  13. We don't have any less depth than Calgary, though. I don't think he'll do as well as MacKinnon (69pts?) but I think he'll do better than Monahans 34 points.
  14. omg so happy.
  15. golden goal after 120?
  16. Congratulations on your signing day buffalo. We will now take from you your favorite Football Player and your favorite member of the Hockey Organization. Sincerely, The Universe
  17. If he's just as good as Sean Monahan, he'll nail a 30 point season. All indications from Junior and International Competition indicate that he is better. More on the level with McKinnon. Look at the 2012 IH18 tournament where Reinhart (as a 16 year old) played on the same team as Monahan and MacKinnon. Reinhart put up 8 pts in 5 games compared to Monahans 3 and MacKinnon's 11. I like his chances.
  18. Agreed, we could use more muscle. Until the team is so talented, the other team doesn't have time to make the dirty play without it costing a goal more often than not (I think this is why the talented western teams are so much better than the east right now), we will need something to protect our developing skill guys. We need a tough guy with some skill who's willing to give the opposing center a shot to the nuts on the faceoff.
  19. The roster is still very weak. I agree. but: Mitchell outscored Leino in 9 games last season, playing with less talent. McCormick offers a different kind of talent, but also outscored Leino (and Flynn on a per game basis) look at his numbers, he was on 20 point pace for the full season. AND he offers the muscle. (and a potential head trauma, I understand) Cory Conacher just signed a one year league min deal with the only GM worse than Darcy. (we should move this to the 14-15 roster thread)
  20. There is a very happy 6-y-o in my house who asked to keep the light on in his room because he wanted to look at his #8 autographed photo while he fell asleep. This is Murray's best deal to date.
  21. Ok, we're not talking the same language. I saying NHL players on any team, not the top 20. McCormick, Weber, and Mitchell are all NHL players (I agree with your assessment that they only crack the regular line-up on bottom tier teams, I'm making a different point) So we've got 11 forwards and a spot to rotate to really young guys and 5 defensemen with a spot to rotate the really young guys. Last year we had Ville Leino, Brian Flynn, Jamie McBain, John Scott, and Matt Ellis all play more than half the season. None of these guys will crack a roster this year. Throw on top of that Sulzer, Conacher, Omark, and Adam who all played between 10 and 25 games and you've got 4-5 roster spots worth of man-games filled with guys who belong in the AHL at best. We won't have that next year. I completely agree that all the signings you propose would improve the team, I'm just saying that the roster as it stands right now is at least made of NHL or Potential NHL talent, and at a nice mix. As a STH this pleases me.
  22. keep notes, this will be great late july/early august stuff.
  23. The danger is, Stafford (contract year), Moulson (based on career averages), and reinhart/ennis/hodgson (based on potential) could (unlikely, but conceibably) score 90 and be a totally legit #1 line Leaving Gionta and the other two young guys as a potential legit second line and screwing with the whole tank. I really hope our goalie of the future is playing in Juniors/AHL and these guys secure the tank. It would make me feel better.
