indeed. ###### counting is a critical quality control measure.

You can't give them less than zero and then give them one. That just doesn't make any sense.

Matt Moulson has averaged 30 goals per season (lockout adjusted) for the past 5 years. He is the 13th leading goal scorer in the NHL over that time. He might well flame out, but even then he won't be a one-hit-wonder like Staff. He (135) currently sits between Bobby Ryan (134) and James Neal (137) in winger goal scoring this decade.

No, there was a guy who pretty much only communicated in meme pics.

My son medically needs GF, but I sure as ###### buy wheat bread for everyone else. Because $4.99 for a half loaf of crappy bread is complete ######. I'll eat that Wonderbread with absolutely Zero F@&ks Given.

All television shows on premium cable. Where's that guy that had all the internet meme jpgs and gifs ready at a moment's notice in the GDTs? This is an ideal thread for him.

Shrader cares:

Moulson makes ~2x Ott makes ~2x McCormick and they play completely different roles. It's Apples and Anvils and Aardvarks. (or Beer and Whiskey and Shield-licking)

I expect 35-40 points over at least 78 games with at least 24min ATOI from Myers. That'll put him right around 20th in defenseman points and ATOI. He's right around 20th in defenseman pay.

Ah, My intention was to say that he has NHL value and we are not the only team that agrees with that assessment.
-
You think he was "taken off our hands"? He played all 13 playoff games for the Wild and even scored a goal. They WANTED him. I understand he's a limited 4th line player, but he added some measurable (to the wild) value to that trade. Also interestingly, he took only 1 minor penalty in the playoffs despite being 3rd on the team in hits. (behind stoner and neideriter (sp?)) That's strength and grit combined with discipline.

Trade with the Jets:LW Jordan Samuels-Thomas Acquired

It's a 7th rounder. If he plays 40 games for Rochester it'll be worth it. Unless we end up in contract limit hell. -

They swapped their #1 Minutes defenseman (Andrew MacDonald) for a Sabres/Panthers Throw away (TJ Brennan) I'm thinking they can't possibly be the same, no matter how good Reinhart is.

So there has been a lot of talk about how good the Vanek Trade has been/could be for us. At the same time it has been/will be terrible for the Islanders. But what is the WORST trade a team has made since the Sharks began the modern expansion era? It could be a fleecing, a team that traded away a critical cog, or just a plain head scratcher. After we get a dozen or so nominations, I'll throw up a poll so we can have a vote. _______________________________________ My first nomination is the Islanders Chara and the 2nd overall (Spezza) for Yashin.

That trade is just proof that the islanders had terrible management well before Garth showed up. Cost them Chara AND Spezza and they still owe Yashin another $2.2M on the buyout!

Trade with the Jets:LW Jordan Samuels-Thomas Acquired

Definitely seems like this is just a shot at getting the kid in the system before he goes (back into the draft? UFA? what happens next if he doesn't sign a contract?) -
First, the one-size fits all predates any recent federal education initiative (No Child Left Behind, Race to the Top, etc.). It's been that way for at least 3 decades. And the states all still have full autonomy on curriculum. Vouchers are an interesting topic, but their absence is not really tied to any particular federal initiative. Public funding of tuition at private schools should definitely be tried as part of the solution. i think there could be some potential in Industry Funded public trade schools as well. I'm sure we could get Boeing, GE, Rolls-Royce, Pratt, etc to fund high school programs in advanced manufacturing trades, since they would stand to gain significantly from investing in a larger labor pool (high spec welders right now get to essentially write their own paychecks) Second, why not look everywhere possible for potential solutions to issues? seems awfully restrictive to eliminate a few dozen different systems from consideration because of the continent on which they reside.

Our kids go to school 6.5 hours every weekday on academic subjects (so 32.5 hours/wk) sounds like in Belgium it's 36 hours/wk. How many school days are there in a year? I do love the idea of career tracked middle/high school. We have a severe shortage of people going into the trades (electrician/welder/machinist/etc.) and I believe that is a direct result of the college-for-everyone philosophy of our educational standards.
