I understand. I see what you're doing. I'm just trying to make you feel worse about sports-life. :P If you're measuring relative misery, Columbus won't give two hoots if the Blue Jackets win and the Buckeyes don't. Also the Crew had average attendance of 16,080 last year (and they are in the middle of a rebuild). The Blue Jackets got just 14,658 (during their best season ever). The Columbians are much less miserable than their Hockey Team would indicate.

Development camp - Blue & Gold scrimmage

Also, look at the list of Centers drafted in the 1st and 3nd rounds between 2002 and 2011. I'm not saying it's the only way to build up the middle, but you at least have to be paying attention to it. -
Yup. Meszaros is almost certainly gone, and depending on the kind of season Weber has, he might be on the block as well. If he plays a strong first half, he's exactly the kind of depth defenseman teams are looking for at the deadline.

Rasmus played 34 games in Buffalo last year and has been pretty much universally lauded by the media, fans, and coaching staff for his efforts this summer. I'm guessing he plays close to 80, with one fully rotating spot, and Weber essentially playing a 6/7 role to open some additional playing time for the kids. That said, one guy goes on LTIR and all bets are off.

You don't count college ball? It's bigger than Hockey.

M-W has literally conceded the definition of every word. -
Excellent. Now he just needs to learn how to play on it.

Josie... How much would we have to raise on kick starter to get you to create a digital version of this artwork for use in the upcoming SabreSpacey awards?

Take Columbus off the list. #1 sport is OSU football, #2 is MLS soccer, and they have championships in both. MLS may not be a major sport in the US as a whole, but it's huge to the Colombians.

We have no way of reconciling it because Europe wants to be able to heat their houses in 3 months. There are plenty of (non-military) options, but no EU appetite for it right now. At the end of the day this doesn't hurt us unless we let it. This is collateral damage resulting from a battle between two warring nations outside of our sphere of influence. Check out Hungary 1956. It sucks, but there's no reason to get involved.

Bronzed bust of Kevin Spacey wearing Hasek's goalie mask?

I guess we're talking different criteria. I'm talking winning and playoffs and championships. '09 was post-dynasty pistons. They had traded away a bunch of cogs for a 34 year old who was never the 'answer'. The Boston wins are certainly a feather in his cap. But they were post knee injury Garnett. He never had to face the most recent great Lakers teams. edit: '07 pistons win is also a jewel in James' crown.

Even if I concede this, LeBron never overcame any of these teams.

It's a buffalo sports message board. There are no virgins. We've all been ###### repeatedly.

a key difference there is that that was a 1st a 3rd and a 4th. The Tylers were also there, and they worked out, but the only other 2 1st rounders were Zagrapan and Persson. So 2 of 5 first rounders turned into top 6/4 players. 3 if you take into account the kassian/hodgson trade. This camp had 7 first rounders. and we're adding 3 more next year. Without any improvement in drafting over the abysmal couple picks above, we should have our solid top 6/4 for years to come. If any of these second rounders work out, that's just gravy. -
I would disagree that any of these are as good as those 90s teams, but regardless Lebron didn't win a championship during the primes of any of the bolded. It can be chaulked up to the team around in in most cases, but he, on a stacked Heat team, got beat in the finals by a far less talented Mavs team and this year by a Spurs team that is all either far less talented or way past their primes. but you are correct that it's all speculation at this point. 10 years from know we'll know more.

The Peak of the Stockton-Malone Jazz Hakeem's Rockets Drexler's stacked Trailblazers Robinson in his prime Barkley's Suns Shawn Kemp's Supersonics The Hardaway-Mourning-Riley Heat and the tail end of the bird-johnson co-dynasty. It's likely that there were far more HoF led teams competing against Jordan than BronBron is facing today.

This. Exactly this. I hate divided government (like we've had for most of the last couple decades) because both parties end up only passing the "easy" pieces of their platforms. So you get tax cuts without spending cuts from the republicans and spending increases without tax increases from the democrats. It's a f'n recipe for disaster. One of the redeeming qualities of the ACA is that it contains, despite the way in which it was sold, straight-up tax increases all over the place (med devices, healthcare deduction reductions, penalties, actuarial risk sharing pools, etc) to actually pay for the spending increases associated with expanded medicaid and subsidies. The economy is certainly big enough to pay for the things that we want. Our 25% revenue-to-GDP ratio isn't any where near that of the rest of the developed world. We can can pay for it, or we can cut services down to our taxation level. It's just a matter of getting the government that's willing to take the political risk to do the unpopular part of their platform.

Both indeed. The kid has the skills and the work ethic it appears. All he needs to work on is his chronological age and growth. The CHL is as fine a place as any to experience the earth's revolution around the sun.

This is wonderful news.

Sorry to hear that man. It sounded like a sweet gig. ;)
