ah, a Family Feud. What we need is Louie Anderson, John O'Hurley, or Steve Harvey. They'd be able to sort everything out.

Did he rage-quit the message board again?

Vanek-Face?

Some experts are wondering if all those stretches where he "disappeared" were just him working off his gambling debts.

I don't think one would expect anything else. Why would you expect anything else?

It's not so much being married. It's kids. I swear they are genetically programmed to act as birth control in order to maintain a monopoly on parental resources.

I once had lunch with Hank Aaron's wife (she's amazing) and I once had a beer at a bar with the real Rudy Ruettiger (he's an ######).

Much better.

Was TV faking the injury in the bruins series because he was on the take? More at 11:00...

I think it would be best for all of us if we stopped this investigation.

One could also point out the difference in weather patterns between a city like Buffalo and a city like San Diego. Or, one could point out the general economic performance of a city like Buffalo vs. a city like Salt Lake City. Thank god for Cleveland.

there is a plumbing company in Inlet, NY called BJ Queen Enterprises.

I don't think anyone should be thrilled that we were misled for the last couple decades that with good management and players that work just as hard as the blue collar dirt under the fingernails people of WNY we were going to compete with the teams full of talent. The hardest working team in hockey was only successful be cause they had the most talented hockey player on the planet at the time. That's the marketing con-job you should be pissed about. This rebuild is not exciting. It's just not. I think the tank meme is a fine way to cope with it. I think taking a break from the team is fine too. But what they are doing now is attempting to build a team with talent. Top end talent. What we are witnessing isn't the start of a marketing campaign designed to fool fans. We are witnessing the end of one.

I can get behind the idea of not embracing losing. Losing is always bad. I look at it more like holding your nose and accepting the losing (bad thing) as a necessary part of the way we are acquiring the good things: Half of a roster worth of first round picks. Myers, Ennis, Armia, Grigs, Girgs, Risto, Zadarov, Reinhart, and three more next year. If we hit 50%, which would be below average for top half of the first round, our top line and top pair will no longer be the thing we wish we had but can't make better in trade or FA. Then we can use those tools for what they are useful for. Second/3rd liners and middle pairing defensemen to add depth to the team.

Are you better at babysitting than driving? If so, I have a proposal to make...

I've never seen goon.

This is a pretty safe position to take, sports wise. This type of spectator can separate himself from the losing, while still enjoying the benefits of improved and more abundant talent. No stain of defeat, all the glory of victory when the time comes. I, for one, think we are better off with Girgensons, Zadarov, and whoever we take with the Islanders pick next year than we were with Goose, Pommer, and Vanek. I also think the improvement in our pick this year from 8-10 (Nylander/Ehlers/Ritchie) to #2 for Reinhart was well worth bypassing the signing of Free Agents who could help us win maybe 10 more games, but never help us in the playoffs in the future. I think the worst trade of the rebuild was Roy for Ott/Pardy, because I think we could have done better than Stewart and Carrier had we traded Roy for picks/prospects directly. Fittingly, that was the only "hockey Trade" of the rebuild.

Sabres sign Tyler Ennis to 5 year / $23 M deal
LastPommerFan replied to Swedesessed's topic in The Aud Club
It would be HUGE if two out of three of them played like solid top3/2 guys for the next 5 years. Other than Myers, I don't think anyone is counting on that. -
A good chunk of the STHes have been calling for this far longer than the Front Office has been willing to oblige.

The Buffalo Sabres will not be profitable this season.

To quote our illustious nFreeman: nonsense. Those prospects had an actual team of hockey players around them. This group has had an AHL roster at best. How could there be any indication on the ice that this group of prospects is better than the Roy/TinMan/Pommer/Goose/Vanek group? So we have to look at what we have in terms of historical prospect success. That group had exactly 2 first round forwards and 1 center. This group has 4 first round forwards and 3 first round centers and will likely add 2 more forwards and another center to that list next year. All of this is a result of dealing assets for picks and the resultant suckage (tanking). We've essentially doubled the probability that the rebuild succeeds.
