  1. Thanks, man.
  2. One of my favorite nursery rhymes as a kid. Aaaah memories.
  3. So how many rounds of the draft will go on tonight? Is it just the first round or is it the first 2 or first 3? I honestly can't remember from last year.
  4. But that's prime glory hole time. Perfect when you need a break between chapters.
  5. Maybe Murray should start giving at least some fks because the more I think about this the more I hate it.
  6. Yuck. The only silver lining to that is hopefully it takes us out of the chase for O'Reilly since we'd no longer have #21.
  7. Ekblad is great but I'm still happy we got Reinhart. For years we were deprive of centers and now we are poised to be stacked down the middle.
  8. I'm an atheist but if there's a just and loving God in the sky then Edmonton or Toronto will be stuck with the tab of overpaying for O'Reilly. $7 + million plus whatever in asset overpayment for a guy who has scored 20 goals once in his career and plays a good defensive game isn't worth it. He probably would be worth it to Toronto because he can be their first line center. In Buffalo, he'd be taking up a large chunk of the cap to play 3rd line center or be pushed to the wing where we already have enough guys who can play left wing (Kane, Moulson, Foligno, Deslauriers, Grigorenko, Larsson) and already have a good left winger playing on his off side (Ennis).
  9. No way, sir. Mickey's grenades are where it's at.
  10. Go the vagabond route and pick up a bottle of wild irish rose, put it in a paper bag, and take it to the park when you can read on the park bench and get hammered. Bonus points for public urination and/or rubbing one out.
  11. I would be beyond pissed if they traded Eichel or Reinhart because those guys were our "reward" for putting up with the past 2 shittastic seasons we've all endured. My actual untouchable list would also include Ristolainen, Girgensons, and Zadorov in addition to those 2 guys and then there's a couple others that I wouldn't move unless someone overpaid.
  12. Yep. He should be dropping mics instead and they'd probably make him Pope.
  13. I see your point and I'd much rather go after Okposo than someone like O'Reilly because he plays right wing and we're thin at that position. He likely won't be as expensive in assets or cap hit either but I'm interested in seeing what the guys we already have can do next year.
  14. Apparently dropping the microphone is the epitome of impressive these days. I'm guessing you were all big fans of the 8 mile movie too or was it someone else who popularized it? Not sure I get what's so awesome about it but to each his own.
  15. Of course not. The devil planted dinosaur bones to trick us and scientists bought it hook, link, and sinker. Darwin was in on the scam. Everyone else knows the earth was created in 6 days about 6,000 years ago and try to ignore the fact that there are living trees on this planet that are older than that.
  16. I can only speak for myself, but it's probably because the team isn't expected to seriously contend for at least 2 or 3 years and by then players in that age bracket would be 30 or approaching 30 and starting to decline in production. Forwards seem to hit peak point production in their early to mid 20's then plateau for a few seasons before their production starts to decline around 30. This team already has veterans in Gionta, Moulson, and Gorges and several younger veterans on Ennis, Bogosian, Weber, and Kane with several years of experience each. I'd prefer to see what we have in our youth rather than to ship off promising young players in exchange for guys who have likely already had their best seasons.
  17. I voted zero. I think we pick up our goalie in free agency and I think if we make a trade it will be to move up in the draft but not to trade for a rostered player.
  18. As the saying goes you can take the Masshole out of Boston but you can't take Boston out of a Masshole. Either way, he's our Masshole soon and I don't care if he pisses off everyone around the league as long as he helps us win.
  19. I loved that whole segment of the game. The team may have been low on talent and got beat pretty badly on the scoreboard but had plenty of grit to not get pushed around or take any /cheapshots. Weber and Strachan get put in the box, no worries. Girgensons takes a cheap shot and not only does he stand up for himself but Zadorov rushed right in to protect his teammate as well. Even with those 4 out we still had Kaleta, McCormick, and Stewart out on the ice for the next shift to give 'em the business. Stewart didn't receive a penalty on the play, but even if he had we still would've had Foligno and Deslauriers to respond if needed.
  20. I went with option 2. I think he'll be a fan favorite and regular 4th liner that will have the ability to move up to the 3rd line in case of injuries or play defense in a pinch if needed.
  21. I guess we'll see eventually, but I highly doubt it. Who are these people who actually know that you're speaking of, because my guess would be that if O'Reilly was willing to sign a long term deal for $7 or $7.5 million then the Avalanche would just resign him themselves and never would have signed him to that last 2 year contract that let's him reach UFA status at 25 which is as soon as he possibly could have.
  22. I think the liklihood that O'Reilly signs a long term contract for a $7 million cap hit is extremely remote at best. The guy is already making $6 million and he's one season away from becoming a top free agent at the age of 25. To convince him to forego free angency I think you're talking $8 or $9 million per year minimum and likely even more than that or else he can just wait the year out and get at least that much from whoever is the highest bidder next summer. There's always at least one team willing to overpay big time and all it takes is one. His style of play should keep his injury risk low as well. Paying $8 or $9 million for a top 6 winger will definitely cause us cap issues down the road. There's a reason the Avalanche aren't willing to do it and that's because they'd rather earmark that money to pay guys like Landeskog, Duchene, and MacKinnon. I'd rather earmark our truly big cap hits for Eichel, Reinhart, and Ristolainen, leaving plenty of cap room for reasonable contracts of other good players like the other guys being mentioned (Kane, Bogosian, Girgensons, Ennis, Zadorov, etc.)
  23. Ok fine. So we'll lose some combination of Zadorov, Girgensens, Bogosian, Kane, and Ennis instead so we can pay Ryan O'Reilly top line center money to either play on the wing or to play 3rd line center.
  24. Free agents don't cost anything other than big contracts and O'Reilly set himself up to get to UFA status the first year he was eligible to and I highly doubt that was an accident. I doubt he extends with anyone who trades for him unless he gets severely overpaid though. Evander Kane and Zach Bogosian both cost us a lot in assets but they are both on pretty reasonable contracts.
  25. Sorry, I used up my best material on that previous post. Kind of hard to top "He once walked down the street with a b0ner ............ there were no survivors". I just don't get the infatuation with this guy. He's a really good player and all but we have enough C/LW's and the guy seems hell bent on getting paid and the Avs seem to want a king's ransom for him. I could maybe see one or the other, but to give up quality assets and pay him a ton of money doesn't seem worth it.
