  1. So if we have injuries we have no cap space to call someone up or trade, no flexibility whatsoever?
  2. Apologies if this is quoted twice, odd things be happening! I pointed that out to make people think. I said at the start a BALANCE is required, but people keep saying physicality is required as a foundation, cornerstone and main component, which I believe to be wrong. Physicality helps attack and defense, a strong, balanced attack and defense leads to wins. Providing your starting lineup doesn't go on IR. That is it, plain and simple.
  3. There are those players available, through trade (which is also a strength of Regiers). Ehrhoff, Regehr, Ott. All looked forward to the chance to come here, Ott was obviously really pleased (as anyone who follows him on twitter will know). We aren't NYI or Columbus, but we're not Detroit or NYR either. Despite your blind faith in Pegula's pockets we can't throw money at every problem and even then WE CANNOT DITCH THIS CONTRACT IF IT GOES SOUR. We're stuck with a 7.5mill HOLE we cannot fill Am I making this simple enough? Blind hope achieves ###### all. What if this isn't the perfect match your NHL12 seems to think it is? EDIT: Whoops...
  4. The Bruins built their hockey on tough physical play, the Kings have far more skill and built it on a balanced, solid attack and defense. Please explain to me how NJD made it to the finals, their far from a physical team.
  5. It relates to my actual point, which is that his not worth $7.5mill. You guys realise you're relying on a 35 year old for 4 years to be a physical presence on the top line, right? and for $7.5 mill you could get a FAR better player. Hell, I'd rather spend that money on someone who's actually worth it (and younger). I'm not afraid of anything, Doan is NOT the missing piece. He would be a good addition, at half the money. We could, and should spend the $7.5mill on getting a proper top line RW who can put up more than 50 points a year and will not decline at such a sharp rate. You'll be lucky if he puts up the same points as Boyes after year 3. No cup winning team has a 50 point scorer on their top line RW. I'm with whoever suggested Iginla, his closer to being worth $7.5mill. I get it, you are desperate because there is no sign of hockey and scared the Sabres might not go 82-0 this season, whats more you believe we should spend $7.5mill on an average player because you're scared of getting rejected by an elite player. Why is everyone so blind to the simple truth?
  6. I have no personal stake in this so I'll say it. Dont ask for people to be civil or respectful if your not willing to be, that post was neither. EDIT: I'm well aware I'm standing on a hippo-crate right now. I never ask people to be civil or polite, in my pre-emptive defense. :P :)
  7. You do realise most of the western world is suffering from the same crisis, yes? No one event or one thing has caused it, its been building for a long time. Largely due to western cultures reliance on credit but by not means exclusive to that. I'm no expert in your internal affairs, but I gave my opinion. George W Bush was the worst head of state this world has seen for some time, and it'll take well over a decade to repair that ######.
  8. JERRY! JERRY! JERRY! JERRY! Hehehehe :P
  9. No his one of, if not the, best two way forwards in the game. We can look stupid while we have a player on double his worth who spends half his time on LTIR. Oh thats one of the better scenarios. What will it take to make you lot see that his production will decline! He is riding a contact year and a high. Signing him now would be a BAD IDEA. Truely Regier though, would be done to appease the fans. I'm pretty sure thats the way we ended up with the other player on double his worth (Regehr) Yes, but signing Doan to a contract that means if we have a serious, long term injury to a major player we can do nothing (i.e, no cap room) just before a new CBA is signed would be stupid. I'd rather do the clever thing and wait. Apologies for injecting logic and reason in to the arguement. Now go on the PIM and Hits (which are a hugely unreliable and meaningless stat) over the last 4 seasons. If you'll also look at his +/- he had a -8. second only to Vermette in the top 10 scorers (worse than Raffi Torres). Oh and his not particularly clutch either, his good and better than we've had before but not clutch, his by no means Drury or Briere, which I'd expect for $7.5mill. Largely his own doing though. At least his not taking him a damn roster spot and $7.5mill of cap space on a team with a history of injuries. I'd say his closer to Pominville, but splitting hairs. Doan only like Brown on paper.
  10. Yep. Physicality. Got the Bruins far this year didn't it? Can't be any of the following: Good health Kopitar and Browns 40 points in the playoffs Carter, Richards, Williams Quick Solid leadership A well built team by a GM with a vision. Oh and the toughest team they played in the playoffs was the team they beat in the 1st round. Physicality was part, but lets not say it was their main game.
  11. Yer, but he didn't get you in to this mess. And if you'll notice, his doing a better job than most heads of state at getting you out. Or would you prefer to end up like the Greeks? To say that, I have to assume you don't understand true charisma.
  12. Sherlock on Drums. Bonkers.

  13. Don't worry guys you'll all be speaking Chinese soon! :P Oh and that Republican who said that ###### about rape really is a complete wanker and needs to be shot. EDIT: Also, speaking as an international citizen, you'd be daft not to re-elect Obama. A truely charismatic leader is rare, and the world desperately needs one. Trust me, you dont want the opposite (or you'll end up with some like Cameron, or even end up like the French).
  14. No, Lucic is the definition of a power forward. Out of interest, who here realises that Anze Kopitar averaged less than one hit per game. DOAN = FINE, GOOD ADDITION. DOAN @ 7.5MILL OVER 4 SEASONS = ###### STUPID. Get it yet? EDIT: I'm arguing on many levels, thats just one of them. These are my points: 1) Doan is massively overpaid at that price and not worth it 2) We are over reliant on hits as a stat of how good we are. An aggressive, winning attitude is necessary, not just hits. 3) Doan is not a top line winger. His good, but really a second line winger.
  15. And I'm getting obliterated! Hit das nail on der head! We didn't have as much of a choice with Vanek.
  16. I could bitch about this, but that was very clever, well done sir!
  17. Ok, going on the muscle part of your sentance. Wanting Doan and wanting Muscle aren't the the same thing, his a gritty player but by no means a power forward. Wanting muscle on Vaneks line and signing him for it is a really bad move.
  18. I guess I just got in to the heavier funk stuff more.
  19. When will you guys learn not EVERY problem can be solved by adding 1 player? Regehr, then Ott, now Doan. It's always 'just this one piece'. His not the messiah, his a very naughty boy!
  20. Bolded: No it's really not, thats why Ott should thrive where as Regehr and Ehrhoff openly had trouble adjusting. I'm not saying his a 3rd liner, his a decent 2nd line winger with good leadership abilities. His NOT a top line winger and his not double the player Stafford is (he has more than double the attitude, that I'll give you). He IS 35 years old and we are talking about a 39 year old making $7.5 mill because the Buffalo Sabres CANNOT ATTRACT FREE AGENTS. We are stick shaking the 'cash strapped' and 'stingy' labels and now have the 'underachieving' label. We are about as attractive as a greasy beefburger to a vegan... Lol, they are doing very well and good luck to them, but their future is cloudy at best.
  21. I'd rather not look like complete idiots and overpaying on a contract for a guy that will never live up to it. Also I object to having to pay elite prices for a good player. He would be a good addition, but it's not the end of the world if he chooses to stay with deadbeat Phoenix.
  22. Lol, I'm sure thats how most kids on estates over here learn it.
  23. The Beatles were a groundbreaking band a the time, redefining genre's and putting Britain on the musical map, but other than that I'm pretty much tapped out regarding Beatles knowledge. I'm more of a Stones guy tho tbh, always like the hell raiser thing. I liked everything up to and including Californication, after that they kinda lost it. I put it down to lack of drugs.... Lol.
  24. I'd pay $4mill (maybe 4.5) over 2 years for a guy on the serious decline, who was a 50 point getter and has never played for any other than 1 team, let alone a team in a different conference. Sure he has leadership abilities, that's why he gets more than $3mill. The guy isn't the answer to our prayers.
  25. Queen's English good sir! Lizzy ain't dead yet. Thats like the they're and their. I know the difference, I'm just lazy.
