  1. Great assumption, also wrong. His stated a number of times his family come first, if not Phoenix then don't expect him to go far.
  2. This is very true. Yep, being in the Big Apple is nothing to do with it. C'mon man, try harder. Also they did it with Redden and only a couple of others. So far have Kotalik, Morrisson and Pardy we have tried that with.
  3. Another good move for Buffalo's reputation. Sign a player for more than his worth, then half way through the contract send the well respected player down and trade him. Even less players would want to play for us then.
  4. I think it's safe to assume Doan and Iginla aren't signing here realistically, Iginla was used as an example. Ryan is another one. Evander Kane, Patrick Kane. The list goes on.
  5. As I said about 10 pages ago, it might not be about the money for Doan, he might want to sign as close to Phoenix as possible, or sign with old team mates. His said nothing.
  6. Yes but his only on about $4-5mill, correct? Plus I'm sure Boston aren't exactly happy and I'm sure if it was the Sabres in Botson's position we'd be infuriated.
  7. I can see the logic. I think he'll end up staying for cheap to be honest. I really hope Jamison is approved soon for that reason, it's clearly what he wants. I hope he gets what he wants. :)
  8. Good man, agree with him on that front. No way the league starts on time anyway, why rush?
  9. Nerraaggyreeefefdsa. That is the noise my brain made when I read that. I think I almost had an aneurism.
  10. But I dont go over there. ;)
  11. Also I'm sure Calgary would take Iginla back towards the end of his career, so he can end his career as a Flame. There might not be that option with Phoenix...
  12. Because trading away players for a salary dump (an average player on an absurd salary) is bad news, and embarrasing. For all Weave's talk o having to overpay for FA's, we'd look mighty silly (and therefore, not taken seriously by any FA in the future) if we were to over pay and have to bury or dump contracts because we screwed up the numbers.
  13. I still prefer it over Doan. Plus Buffalo actually has a good reputation as a nice city to live in, that is one key factor for players with families don't forget. :(
  14. I think Calgary bombing this season is no if, it's a when.
  15. At some point nhl.com have to realise some things aren't worth reporting.
  16. Drury had a better rate at clutch performance, I'll defend him. I don't think Doan is quite as good as Drury when we got him. Agree with the rest of the post 100% though.
  17. I would rather see Mike Keenan fired out of a cannon in to the sun. I hate that guy.
  18. And who says the Americans don't get sarcasm!
  19. Ennis still not being signed concerns me. I want him signed more than Doan.
  20. EDIT: I'm confident in that as well, part of my reason for not wanting Doan at that price.
  21. Lol I'm aware of that. I'm assuming thats not for me. Lol... That move rarely works out well for the team getting rid of youth. (People are going to say LAK with the Carter trade, but I said rarely, not never).
  22. Yep, he could have 50 points, 200 hits and lead us in a way we haven't seen since Peca, even then his overpaid by $2.5mill. I don't mind overpaying by a bit to get a great player who is guaranteed to lead us to a cup, or is a clutch scorer or something similar but this isn't that, his pretty good in the playoffs and has little proven success. That would be putting a huge amount of faith in Hodgson as our number one centre, and still leave us with the Stafford' problem.
  23. This is above a high risk, this can only end badly. High risk is trading Ennis for Ryan, with Doan your boxing yourself in to a bad contract for a long time. Note: Even NYR aren't matching this, doesn't that make you think? I agree with high risk, high reward occasionally, but you have to choose your risks and know your long term plan.
  24. Since I'm not even sure what the point is anymore and this is certainly well off topic I'll leave it here.
  25. Bolded: Yes, because not ONE of you have told me your expert game plan if this ###### goes sour and he puts up the same point total as Leino, or doesn't work out in some other way. It is possible to get high price players on a salary dump deal occasionally, or for a large package or lesser players or picks. I agree, it's almost impossible, certainly with the CBA looming but it does happen and even if it wasn't its still not a good reason to pay the same for Doan. Yep, but we finished in 9th place, and even then because Miller put the team on his back for 2-3 months. Agree they did a good job with the cap but I'd rather not make the same mistake twice. Yep, but we're stacked at D and have good trading history with Calgary. To be honest even then I'd wait till mid-season to make that call, especially is Calgary are floundering (and they will).
